As per the title really!

We have scaled back our plans of going to SA due to life but would still like to get away in December returning just before xmas.

Don't want to break the bank, this it seems is the biggest limiting factor. £3k for both of us is the aim with some spending on top.

2 adults who like a chilled atmosphere but also like to see stuff.

Our best holidays have been in Italy but I don't think the weather is decent enough for a break in December?

Any advise or tips welcome.

At that time if year your really limited to either the southern hemisphere or stay within the tropics.

Caribbean is always popular throughout our winter (going myself in November)
The other obvious choice is Dubai, not as expensive as it once was and decent flight options. The weather rarely changes and plenty things to see whilst there. Eating out is still expensive though.

Malta? I've been at that time of year, you aren't going to be sitting on the beach but it would be sunny.

There's plenty of museums and things to see if you like history.

Failing that there is always Vegas biggrin (especially as it is cheap in the running up to Xmas)

Thanks for the info, I had thought about Dubai but not sure where to start if I am honest. Any tips?

Last Christmas I went to Tenerife. Went just before cost of flights rocketed, Dec 16th and came back 5 weeks later.

Flight on BA was £250.

Large 3 bed apartment (friends and family popped over to visit) £1500 for 5 weeks.

Hire car £600 for 5 weeks.

Had one day of rain, for the rest it was blue skies and around 22c to 28c.

Jumeirah Beach resort area probably not a bad place to start.
A whole bunch of hotels lining the sea front. Remember I don't think there are any 'bad' hotels out there they're all pretty good.
It's slightly out of town but getting around is easy and taxis very reasonable (fuel is cheap!)
Alcohol used to be really expensive but it has come down a lot over the last 10 years. Loads of attractions worth visiting. Gold Market and diamond area worth a visit. Significant savings can be made compared to here. The big shopping malls are just next level, crazy next level stuff.
Eating out is still expensive, but other options are still available . Fast food type places if budget gets tight.
I've visited a few times, and my son and his wife live in Abu Dhabi (about an hour up the road)
Weather pretty much guaranteed!
