Sardinia Recommendations?
Discussion
Thinking about getting away to Sardinia in the last part of August for ten days or so, like the idea of it but know nothing about the areas or where to stay.
So looking for advice on what areas are nice, any to possibly avoid and any experience of villas stayed at as we're not really hotel people.
Also thinking of hiring a car to get around for a couple of days too, so places of interest would be good. Plus any general experience.
Cheers.

We went there for the first time at the end of May, it's a truly beautiful place, made even more beautiful as there are hardly any Brits there, we didn't see one single Manchester United what are you looking at top, or a Red Lion pub. Bliss
We only did the north this time and plan on doing the south next year. Flew into Olbia and then drove across to the North West coast for the first half and North East for the second half.
Rental car was a brand new Jeep Compass from Europcar, flawless experience and a good price.
We're sex people, Lynn, so like to watch people in Hotels (not really), but we stayed in a Junior Executive Suite sea view and it was just stunning.

Been once for a wedding, which was in one of the swanky hotels on the Emerald Coast. We didn't fancy that so stayed in Santa Teresa Di Gallura. As the other poster said it's very unspoilt. Lovely little beach and some great spots for food, none of which was pretentious in any way.
Would definitely go back.

I put a detailed reply on this thread the other day but no response from the OP.
