No, not that type of dogging.

It’s one of those things where the terminology really doesn’t work on this side of the pond, such as being “bummed” or losing a “fanny pack”.

But it’s an interesting concept. Anybody here raw-dogged a long haul flight?

If by "raw dogging" you mean taking a transatlantic flight with no luggage apart from a small carry on then yes, I have done it and recommend it for speed and efficiency.

Its not like you can't buy what you need when you get there, they have shops.

Had to look it up, sounds awful.

I'd hate to not have a G&T, Pringles or a book to read.

I suspect it’s borderline manospherical, but I can see the appeal.

That's weirder than my no luggage strategy.

I returned from Sydney once with a two hour stopover in Singapore and did both legs with no entertainment and only water to drink - no food.

Both legs I changed into pyjamas and went right to bed with the door closed. (Singapore airlines first class personal cabin). Raw Dogging doesn’t seem too big a deal.

Now try it in Economy. 2x 12 hours jammed in with 200-300 others needs all the distractions you can carry.

CNN Travel ‘The media, that just keeps on giving’

Inflight ‘raw dogging’: The bizarre new travel trend that’s creating a buzz

Michael Ceely once spent a four-hour flight just zoning out – no magazines, no movies, no podcasts, just looking out the window and watching the flight map. Branding it with Bro speak ‘raw dogging’ makes the challenge more acceptable.

The trend has been popular on social media, with TikTok users one-upping each other for who has gone the longest stretch with the fewest amenities. A British DJ with the handle oiwudini got 1.3 million likes on a video where he bragged about traveling on a seven-hour flight without headphones, sleep or other creature comforts.

FFS, back in the day it was called, doing SFA; nobody cared.

Time to shout at the moon gramps.

I have no problem doing this, especially on trains. I can’t understand people glued to their electronic devices, when you can just idly stare out the window, as I recently did while travelling through Vietnam.

Why its called ‘raw dogging’? I have no idea, I guess the Americans need a label for everything, so they can put it in a box.

Bit more to see though as opposed to just clouds!

I did similar on a 5 hour 3rd class train ride in Thailand, I just took in what was going on, the people, the sounds, the smells and the glorious scenery, it was a fantastic experience.

Is the detox as effective if you don't tell the world about it?

It's not that.

It's no phone or book or other method of entertainment.
