We always use benalmedena cars, as do a few other PH'ers

All in car hire are good.

No hard sell. Never an issue as full cover is all in if you select that and it's not much.

I used MalagaCar last June to rent a Renault Megane for a week and they were great. Close to the airport so transfer was quick, and they whiz through the paperwork and not even a hint of any extra charges for insurance/fuel/etc

Brunoscar or Benalmadena Cars would be my recommendations.

I used Helle Hollis last year after a few recommendations.

Decent price and service so would definitely use again.

Malagacar - Used 3/4 times - Always pretty good. Although during summer can be a ballache getting the minibus and queuing for the rental office
Dragon Cars - https://www.dragoncars.com/ - Run by a lovely Welsh ex-pat lady - They come to the airport with the car. So no shuttle bus or queuing etc... and you just dump it back in the car park when you fly back home.

I've been using Helle Hollis myself for many years now, the prices are even better outside the main season as well - I've had some interesting cars from them in December before.

I always use RecordGo if possible - yes they are on airport but at the far end (10 min walk) from arrivals.

I've used them for years - sign up online and you automatically get discounts and can jump the queue

Best thing they do is their "just go" option. No faffing, no excess, no checking the car on return ... just go

Other than that - Goldcar. I use them occasionally with RecordGo are out of options. They also do a "just go" and you get the keys from a vending machine.

There are some ridiculously cheap prices from Malaga at the moment.

I’m off to Marbella for a weekend in 2 weeks, booked a Fiat 500e for 2 days for €10 with OK. Went for the all inclusive insurance for another 30€ as couldn’t be arsed with any hassle.

Chose electric as doesn’t have to be returned full so no faffing finding a petrol station on a Sunday night, plus all it’s doing is taking me to Marbs and back.

We used Centro via jet2 website for a 3 week hire last month.

Worked out at £16.00 a day with full insurance, ended up with a brand new Hyundai i20
Crap car but only had 8km on the clock when I picked it up.

They are based on an industrial estate about 3 mile from the airport, a minibus picks you up behind the train station and takes you there.

No issues at all with them and will definitely use again at that price.

Just to add no mileage restrictions either. I put 1.5k on it.

Many happy memories in Benalmadena Pueblo, and Carlos at Benalmadena Cars was always a true gent. Recommended.

We’ve just come back from 11 days in Benamocarra, near Malaga.

We hired through Goldcar, car pick up and drop off in the airport which took out a lot of hassle. We picked up at 1pm and dropped back 11 days later at 4 am, there is a key drop for out hours. A few petrol stations open all hours nearby to fill up the tank before returning.

It was all painless and we paid around £150 for me and missus on the insurance, unlimited mileage in an almost brand new Seat Ibiza.

We’ve also hired through Goldcar at Bordeaux in the past as well with no problems. We made the car reservation online about 12hrs before arrival. Flight was delayed by 1.5hrs on arrival at Malaga so our pickup was later than expected but no dramas.

I am looking at Goldcar and they will do a Fiat 500e for the same price as a petrol.

Is it easy to use chargers etc. in Spain?

I am doing a 12 day trip of around 900kms.

We went to Malaga in 2021 and used one of those outfits that Ryanair quoted us for when we booked. They were cheap and big queues when we got to the Hire Car place (forget the name as they have changed but poss Goldcar now). When we got to the font of the queue they asked whether we wanted to pay E150 for their own policy which allowed you to return the car in any condition (lol). We took it out as it didn't seem too bad pricewise and when we came to return there were big queues again and very few staff, people roaming the carpark trying to return cars and harassing he few members of staff on duty trying to send cars out etc. We were getting late for our plane now and when I eventually got to the front of the queue he asked me if I had bought their policy - when I said yes he just took the keys and said everything's fine you can go. Never heard anything from them again and outside chaos still ensued. We are off to Malaga again this year and just going with Enterprise and a separate Excess policy, cost wise isn't too different from the cheapo places and hoping to avoid the crazy queues and chaotic service. If you're on a budget it's fine and I'd do it again but just get there on return a bit earlier.

Unless you are a regular electric car user I’m not sure I’d want to be reliant on chargers - although to add I’ve no idea how good the charging network is.

I’ve hired an electric but I won’t be doing enough kms to require a recharge.

I went to Nerja last year and rented from 'DoYouSpain' out of Malaga.
had a Ford Kuga auto for 10 days. It was ridiculously cheap, something like £160. They were off site, but a small coach took you the short distance and dropped you back to the airport for your return flight (same as all the other rentals).

No issues with the deposit being returned. I would definitely recommend them.

DoYouSpain are a broker rather than a hire company (but worth going through them for good prices).
