I'm looking for suggestions for a week of summer sun, and not quite sure what to do.

My wife has been diagnosed with Cancer, fortunately at an early stage. She's having an operation in 3 weeks, and from there we expect to have a stty year, and our booked cruise is very likely toast.

We quite like the idea of ramming a week away in before the operation.

My budget is as close to £3k as we can get. If it's all-inclusive I can bump that a bit I'm not too frightened by distance, so would look at the Caribbean.

My wife has for a while wanted to visit Thailand, and I can more or less do it on the budget but nothing is all-inclusive. I've no idea what to expect in terms of the cost of booze and food on top. I'm also wary of the flight, as to head to Koa Samui seems to include 3 flights.

Our alternative is a week cruise in the med, but it's an inside cabin only, which would be disappointing.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Essentially we want a week of relaxing and sun...

Thailand is lovely, and cheap as chips on the whole, but in your position I wouldn’t want the hassle of multiple flights. You can easily get to Krabi or Phuket with one stop on a number of carriers though…

Have a look at BA holidays or similar for Caribbean packages maybe, although might be pricey at this time of year.

All the best…make sure everything is declared to travel insurers too to avoid issues.

Thanks for this.. Ended up going for Jamaica with Virgin Atlantic.. Mad day of packing today.

Have had to take the risk of no cover on the Cancer condition. It's not really an issue given that it's been found very early. The treatment is what will cause the complications...
