Covid shafted our last trip and then so did BA dd who kept messing about and then cancelled the rescheduled return but offering an alternative for £7k! I just got them down to £300 with Avios and companion voucher bounce

Its only 8 days but want 2 nights in San Jose, maybe 3 on the beach and 3 in the jungle.

Not into expensive hotels per se (unless they have excellent parkingbiggrin) but experiences destinations are great. The 727 hotel we booked last time is out as kids aren't coming and its $600 for 2 now.

Not into big hikes but like monkeys and great views and food biggrin

Any tips welcome.

Cheers

We went a few years ago, from memory…

Beach was Manuel Antonio in the SW
Rainforest was a lodge in the cloud forest and did the zip line through the trees
We also stayed somewhere close to Arenal volcano and went to one of the hot springs resorts for an evening
Hotel in San Jose was the Marriot Hacienda - quite close to the airport and is not a bad place to stop for a couple of days

I’ve got a friend who lives in CR and spends a lot of time at the beach at Tamarindo in the NW

Might be a few pointers in that lot.

We went 5 years ago or so.

Flew into SanJose, over to the Caribbean coast in Toteguero National Park (Aninga Lodge), then over to Arenal (Casa Luna Hotel & Spa), finishing in Playa Flamingo (magarittaville beach resort hotel) on the pacific coast. Think we were there for 2 weeks.

Nothing wrong with any of those hotels all decent.

We did a 16 day tour with G Adventures in Feb-March. Would very much recommend them.

Might give you some ideas.

You really need to do Monteverde cloud forest, Arenal volcano area and a beach. Quepos \ Manuel Antonio on the Pacific side probably the easiest to get to.
I wouldn’t waste two nights in San Jose. It’s not great, just get going.

Thanks guys. Useful pointers.

San Jose is worth skipping then as am struggling a bit with schdule? We get in a bit late 1st day anyway so could crash near the airport and head to the volcano north of that for 2 nights, then maybe 2 nights Guanacaste and have booked 2 nights on beach in Quepos in something stunning! Cheers
