Many years ago wife and I flew to Egypt and hit extreme turbulence somewhere over eastern Europe. We were in the back row. The stewardess was about to serve coffee when the turbulence hit. She laid on the floor, hung on to a seat bracket, and slowly poured the coffee into the carpet. This is apparently standard procedure to stop hot liquid going everywhere. Overhead oxygen masks came down and things like magazines were strewn everywhere. The bad spell lasted maybe 10 minutes. I'll never forget it. What happened on Monday looks to have been even worse.

Remember to wear your seat belt when walking to the toilet.
Imagine being in the bog when it happened ^ ^ ^ Before a flight a member of cabin crew, who has undertaken 100’s if not 1000’s of hours of training, gives a safety briefing and nobody pays attention.
These are the people, who in the very unlikely event of everything going a bit Pete Tong, may help to save you, but no, people can’t be bothered to pay attention.
I wonder if the recent crash in Japan, which resulted in zero causalities, is because the Japanese paid attention to the briefing.
Personally I find it rude, afford the crew the courtesy of your attention, if only to be polite, they’ve spent hours training for your safety.

No fatalities but several people hospitalised on a flight to Dublin. It happened during meal service so the cabin crew were on their feet when it happened

It is rude although some may have many flights behind them. Still rude. It's just a few minutes for the sake of those who do want to pay attention.
