Restaurants IN Praa Sands, Penzance (Wedding)
Discussion
Howdy all
Getting married in June at Pengersick Castle, Praa Sands - 20 mins or so east of Penzance.
I've never been to Cornwall, but was hoping you lovely folk would have some recommendations for nice restaurants for the few days we're there.
Not sure how I managed to capitalise IN within the title. It can be a bit of a distance away
Any advice or help is much appreciated.
A lot of the places nearby seem to be more beach-shack-cafe style which is fine during the day, but it'd be nice to go for some nice meals on an evening with a bottle of wine or two.
Cheers

In Penzance I can highly recommend The Shore - if you like seafood that is and you're happy to spend a bit. You'll have to book in advance as it's quite small. It's quite an experience though and Bruce who runs the place is the only person in the kitchen, as well as doing a bit of hosting. He's a top bloke and we generally always make an effort to pay a visit when we're down there.
There are quite a lot of eateries now in Penzance but I haven't managed to try them out yet!
Then in the other direction in Porthleven you have Kota, run by Jude Kereama. Another fantastic place to eat if you're happy to spend a bit and love seafood. He also has a more informal place next door - Kota Kai. On the other side of Kota is The Square, which is also a lovely little place doing great food.
In Perranuthnoe there's the Victoria Inn, which used to do decent grub but I've not been in a while and not sure whether it might have changed owners.
Somewhere I've not yet tried but am really keen to is Argoe in Newlyn harbour. You've also got Mackerel Sky there and the Tolcarne Inn. Everyone raves over Mackerel Sky but I thought it simply alright. And I haven't managed to find time to try the Tolcarne Inn yet.
Oh and lastly, over in Mousehole you have No.2 Fore Street which we often make a visit to. The Old Coastguard is supposed to be good as well but we've only ever had a drink in there (great range of beers).

Fantastic, I have some searching to do. Much obliged
You're welcome! If you're on the socials it's worth checking out shore_pz on IG. He regularly posts what he's doing. He's very heavily Japanese cuisine inspired, but what he does can vary one day to the next as it depends what's landed in the morning.
The Tolcarne's standards had dipped last time we went (last year), I'd be trying the (relatively) new shed in Newlyn harbour https://www.argoenewlyn.co.uk/ in preference (sorry, couldn't get a reservation in to tell you first-hand what it's like OP )

Never been Cornwall but getting married there? Would of thought some googling and loads of research was essential whilst arranging such a big personal event?
Have fun and good luck, it's a lovely place. Some great suggestions above.

My wife-to-be has been before, though we're eloping so it's much simpler.
I saw a castle I liked the look of and realised it was actually pretty cheap to book it for a few days. For those days, I'm the king of the castle. Sat on the roof in my pants with a bottle of whiskey.

Yeah I'd heard that but also heard that that it had picked back up again. The same guys ran the Packet in Rosudgeon for a bit as well (was great food) but then seemed to bin that off for some reason.Swervin_Mervin said:

Harriss's in PZ is meant to have upped its game, not been in ages but never really liked the vibe.
