I know the short haul business class arguments have been done to death on here, but bear with me.

Just returned from a lovely fortnight in GC and used a load of avios points to upgrade to BC with BA. Then wondered why we bothered.

Meal, booze and service were fine, but seats were just as cramped and uncomfortable as economy. Someone beat me to 1A in both directions.

Does any other airline fly 'better' BC to the canaries from the UK? If they do it's a secret because I can't find them?

And surely BA could get away with charging more if they made the BC offering more luxurious?

Short haul business for most European carriers is basically the same as BA. There is no difference in the seating as most carriers have a flexible business class. Sometimes they will have 12 rows others 3 and all combinations in between. I flew Malaga - LHR BA business yesterday, there were 12 rows, BA business to Amsterdam this morning & only 3.

Your options to the canaries going direct is basically BA or a low cost carrier (Ryan, Easy, Jet2)

No there are no actual business class seats on that route just the empty middle seat offering. You could get half way in an actual business seat if you took one of Iberias long haul aircraft on the Heathrow to Madrid route but a connection would seem a tad excessive.

Thanks for the quick response guys, I thought that would be the case.

I think next time I'll just book extra legroom with Ryanair!
