Good afternoon all,
We are flying out of Gatwick 07:15 29/04/2024 and returning 00:15 05/05/2024.
Rather than leaving at silly o'clock Monday morning and then having a an early hours drive back...
I'm thinking that maybe booking a hotel for Sunday 29/04, a Taxi/Shuttle bus to the airport Monday morning and the a late/early check in Sunday morning.
A bit of sleep and then driving home Sunday afternoon.
As you can tell I have no experience of this concept...
I'm googling random Hotels, but what would the learned people of PH recommend?
Many thanks

Holiday Inn on Povey Cross Road near the North Terminal used to do a package deal for parking and a nights stay.

I looked for a similar deal from Heathrow and the price was very reasonable.

My recommendation would be an 'on airport' hotel that means you don't need to bother with the taxi to and from.

In the past I have used the Hilton that is on the south terminal - www.hilton.com/en/hotels/gathitw-hilton-london-gat... and the Premier Inn that is on the north (or rather two minutes walk outside it) www.premierinn.com/gb/en/hotels/england/west-susse... The Premier Inn used to do parking and stay packages, but not any longer, but if you are staying then sticking the car in a long stay carpark isn't much of a hassle.

It doesn't really matter which terminal your flight is from as it is only ten minutes on the monorail between them. If staying at the Premier Inn it is worth spending the little extra for the Plus rooms which have a little extra comfort, but more importantly are on different floors which seem to have fewer families staying.

If you do stay the night before, do check whether your airline offers night before bag check-in because if it does it makes it much more relaxed in the morning if you just have to go through security.

Yes, Taxi from hotel, even if only a couple of miles, just adds too much uncertainty.

Although we did a roughish BnB for £60 the night and they had a field out the back where we, and plenty of others, left our car for a week. That was included in the £60.

This was Summer 2022.

Taxi there and back was £14 each way, despite only being a couple of miles, as they added the Gatwick drop off charge.

I'd rather pay more and have the ease of an onsite hotel so you can just stroll to check-in come the morning.
