Algarve in April, warm enough ??
Discussion
Just planning a holiday abroad for the Mrs & myself before we take delivery of our new pup at end of April. I know it’s a bit early so thought either Canaries( which tbh we’ve done lots and prefer to go elsewhere) or Caribbean which we don’t fancy the flight for just a weeks holiday . Last year we went to Alvor in the Algarve in July and really liked it so wondered what the weather would be like early to mid April. Cheers in advance for any input.
Gary c are you kidding me!
The weather in the eastern Algarve is generally fantastic all year round staying pleasantly warm until the sun goes down right throughout the winter period ( caveat - This year at least, my first since buying a place there last summer)
We had a picnic & sunbathing on the beach Xmas day & had a swim in the sea too (water was 17c on Apple Watch).
I was there end of March until mid April last year & it was absolutely perfect with day time temps 22-26c with bags of sunshine & zero rain in the three weeks I was there (Vilamoura area)

Maybe I am used to the Med which is much warmer. The Atlantic is a shock in comparison.
Average temp is meant to be ~21C which is nice, but I haven't been there at that time. In the summer its really nice.
Just back from two weeks at our place in Benagil. Daytime temps were around 19 -20degrees with sunny days. Plenty of sunbathing in sheltered places on beaches and plenty of others too. Even sunbathers on the west coast which is always exposed.
A couple of years ago we were sunbathing on the beach on Christmas day. April is usually equivalent to a very pleasant UK spring/summer day.

Currently on the Algarve, clear blue sky and 20c....on 16 Feb....by early April I will be expecting 25/30c, will that be warm enough for the OP?
Sounds awful…. Arriving tonight for three days of it!
Oh yes Popeye I can now see how you'd be such an authority with your local weather knowledge compared to someone who actually lives there for well over half of the year.......
In my experience the golden triangle area in the Algarve has weather that is very pleasant indeed all year round, I've been sunbathing for periods on most days throughout the winter & out all day in shorts / teeshirts until late afternoon as the sun goes down.

In the 7 years I’ve lived there that has not been the case at all.
It has consistently been warmer.
You mean it's felt warmer, or have you measured the temps? I've been to the Algarve on/off for 45 years and found it very pleasant. But not as hot as some on here believe. I've also had quite poor weather with fog and rain in August and 32c at the end of May one year. It has consistently been warmer.
