Las Vegas New Year’s Eve
Discussion
So, to add another question from my last topic on travel to New York and then vegas after Xmas for the new year in vegas.
Anyone done vegas New Year’s Eve which is our plan this time round (been a few times during year so know where most stuff is)
Any advice on best event to go to? Looking to book hotel in advance and ideally stay where a good New Year’s Eve event is due to travelling being pretty much impossible in the night!

I've not been for NYE (although have in the week leading up to Xmas), but I would be thinking about getting a room with a view of The Sphere as they are bound to have something fancy lined up.
There's lots of choreographed fireworks so that's probably something you want to be in a position to watch.

Been many times and celebrated in the New Year in 2009, they closed the strip a couple of blocks east & west and it was spectacular watching the fireworks stood in what is normally a crazy busy intersection (outside NYNY / MGM). Obviously it’s changed quite a bit since then, in fact it’s probably changed since our last visit back in November. There’s always something new opening, new shows to see or bars to belly up to.
Have a look on facebook, there’s a couple of great groups like “Vegas tips & tricks” that will give you loads of inspiration. Or just book a centrally located strip hotel and wing it, you just can’t go wrong. Vegas (quite literally) has something for everyone.

Our last visit we stayed at the Bellagio, fountain view room and dinner @ Lago, sat outside on the patio with the fountain display as an accompaniment was just incredible. Our other favourite is The Red Rock, totally different vibe from the Strip and a great pool area but that won’t be much use in Dec / Jan. We’re planning our next visit, fancy a couple of nights at the Wynn and dinner at Sinatras, we love anything of that era.
We did new year 11 years ago so some of this is out of date.....
I found hotel rooms were crazy expensive but the difference at the top end not as bad. We were able to get a suite in the mandarin (now waldorf astoria)for 3 nights, 29th, 30th and 31st December for not much more than a decent room at the other strip hotels.
Moving around on new years eve is a nightmare, we got tickets for the bridge street bash at NYNY, cost was ok, open bar and could watch the fireworks and the comings and goings of the strip with our own table and as many drinks as you wanted.
Top tip, open bar on new years eve is not conducive to checking out of your hotel on new years day. We moved from the mandarin to Aria and I genuinely didn't think I was going to survive the queue to checkin, only 3 in front of us! Fortunately Aria had a room and thats where I spent the rest of the day!

old advice/experience, is pretty pointless when it comes to LV specific events as its too fluid, especially any pre-covid advice. this is not a criticism of previous poster just a general point, as i have found heading back first time in since pandemic soon and trying to organise stuff.
op should simply google it as its all massively subjective anyway.
