No idea if this is the right category...

Biut what VLT should I get for good allround lens?

Would 18% suffice?

18-20% is probably where to shoot if you want to use them everyday without thought, although most decent goggles will with come with a separate lens; 40-60% for darker/flatter light days. Changing is usually easy enough but it is another element to add to the ski faffage!

Yep. It adds up fast. But your gear should last years to be fair, if it's reputable.

Lots of used stuff available on the market too. I've got loads of jackets, salopettes etc with barely any use that I need to sell. Jackets that now sell for like £600+ as prices have seemingly gone mental on ski clothing (I swear Spyder jackets used to be 150-200 max). Means my used kit is probably worth a few bob however.

If you're not too worried about brands then there are other options from the likes of MW, Trespass, D2B, Decathlon etc. Should keep you warm and dry without costing a few grand.

Yeah like the other poster said - it can get expensive but if you buy half decent stuff it will last for years, especially given you’re probably only using it one or two weeks a year.

I’m just back from a week in Obergurgl, it was great, a week a year always reminds me why I bother with all the faff and expense.

Goggles can have a pretty hard life. It's worth thinking about whether you habitually pick up scratches on sunglasses lenses and if so not spending a fortune. Spherical lenses probably a little more vulnerable as if you drop them lens down a single area of the lens will hit the deck where as with a cylindrical lens, the frame might be the first point of impact.

Decathlon have some very servicable good value googles.

Sportpursuit usually have some bargains

There are some very nice magnestic interchangeable lenses these days which cut faffage.

For quality you can look beyond Oakley and Scott. I'm a fan of Julbo. I find their 1-3 photochromic covers all my needs

Good idea to try with your helmet as you don't want a Jerry Gap
