Looking at booking our winter flights already! Doing some searching on Kayak. Good to see BC costs have dropped a bit. Had to fly (Excellent) PE with Eva air last Nov aas BC costs went daft.

Etihad are coming in at around £2200 BC, return, so £4400 for the two of us. Curious about the hard offering on the A380 as never flown in one and to get all 4 legs of the trip (LHR-BKK) I need to pay an extra £1k - so more like £5400 for the two of us and I get the feeling its not worth it.

Current £4400 deal gets us a 787-10 Dreamliner out, and the same back to Abu Dabhi, then the A380 back to LHR.
Paying a grand extra gets the A380 all the way out and back.

Question from those that have experienced their offering on both planes - is there a worthy difference to the BC quality other than the somewhat gimmicky (but I want to see it!) bar?

One extra detail - they have started phasing the A380 back in service and there are two doing the LHR- Abu route now but apparently they plan to have more in service this year - so I may end up paying 787 money and then the planes changing to A380s(?)

I've flown both 787 and 380 on Etihad Business (but not since Covid) on LHR-AUH - they are the same product. The A380 lobby area is small and I never used it.

The actual seating pod is the same (certainly in 787-9 2 class) to me at least if there are differences the6 are tiny. (My last 380 was pre covid mind)

I think the 787 is a much nicer aircraft with generally better service mainly due to lower passenger numbers. The 380 has about 70 business seats, so service can be a little less spot on.

The 380 does have the sit down bar, that’s quite nice for about 10 minutes, but after the novelty has worn off it’s pointless.

Ethiad do BC really well, imho my favourite!!

I would not pay extra to fly in any specific aircraft.

I am flying A380 to Ad in a few weeks, the 787 back so will report in full.

Thanks both - that's confirmed what I suspected.

I have seen various YT vids of the bar and it does look like a shoe-horned in gimmick. Sadly, probably a "seflie spot" :-) Though saying that, always a luxury to sit on a couch when flying.

Up until a few years ago I regularly flew Etihad Business class mainly from the UK to the Middle East and occasionally the Middle East to America.

Whilst it provided an excellent service, I wouldn’t be paying for Business class out of my own pocket.

Whats the relevance? I can afford it, and I do.

It’s hardly a long flight and in my experience of flying from Manchester to Abu Dhabi (previously every few weeks) is it really worth paying the extra for Business Class. Perhaps you could consider flying economy which on Etihad is also very good and donating the money saved to the humanitarian aid fund for Gaza.

Oh do go away. There is another thread on here where people are moaning that business class is a waste of money, you'll like it there much more. While you are at it , drop by the supercar section on here and suggest they sell up and buy minis, donating the change to Ukraine.

It’s good to see that compassion for others is alive and well in your little world of self indulgence.

There are four vehicles listed in your profile garage, you can't use them all at the same time, therefore they are a self-indulgence.

I suggest you sell three of them immediately and donate the proceeds to the Gaza fund.

Or, y'know, just shut up.

No self indulgence here at all. The Mini is the wife’s, one is a sports motorcycle (hardly everyday transport) the Alfa is for my daughter and I use the BMW for work.

Then maybe best not to judge others.

We flew to Oz with Etihad partly on the A380 and partly Dreamliner albeit the 9 not the X. I wouldn’t pay a single penny more for the A380 because as already mentioned the offering is the same minus the bar which I can take or leave. The Dreamliner as already mentioned has fewer seats in business and the service did feel a bit better.

Make sure you sign up to Etihads rewards programme. I managed to get a “free” Sonos out of them by using our points from that trip in their online store.

I got a couple of folding knives last time! :-) As an aside I now have st loads of Avios but every time I look at BA flights then are more expensive, with Avios, than anyone else....

Looking like we are going to fly with them (Etihad) to Delhi, then BKK, then back to Delhi and LHR, over 2 months. Cost is no different to flying to BKK, then going to Delhi and back, then home to LHR. Whatever, going to do an India tour then our usual Thailand and Cambodia thing.

I’m on a poxy a330 to Lanzagrotty next week.redface

Seriously thinking of cancelling until the airlines put a proper plane on that route, like an a380 or the new Concorde thingy that they might make sometime.

Seriously, lads, have a word with yourselves, it’s a fecking plane that gets you from A to B in a few short hours.
