Batteries on planes

Off to Cyprus at the end of next week for work. I need to take a heap of photo and video gear.

I've just done a quick count and the total batteries I need to bring is 10! This is all pro-gear and some of the batteries are unique, not cheap and not ones you can pick up at a local camera store.

A quick google suggest all batteries must go in cabin bags and limited to no more than two.

I fly regularly but first time I've needed to take this amount of gear so just wondering if anyone knows if this is a strictly enforced thing, any workarounds or airlines that are more amenable to such need.

DO NOT put batteries in the hold.

Every airline I've ever flown with forbid it.

You'll have to carry them in your hand luggage.

Batteries must be in hand luggage. Some airlines publish a max capacity, 160Wh seems to be commonly stated.
I've recently flown with my phone of around 6,000mAh a 20,000mAh battery pack and a bike light with 5,700mAh battery without any issues.

I suppose it's only the airport security that are going to question it, might be worth a call to the airport. Although when I've asked about taking a 2kg D lock in hand luggage previously I couldn't get a definitive answer from the security staff at the airport.

Some check-in staff ask, but most seem to just expect you to read the signs. It's fine if the batteries are in the appliances. The limit is on carrying spares. A couple of years ago I tried checking in a suitcase with about a dozen spare batteries for metal detectors and was firmly refused.
