Hi there,

My apologies if this a dumb question but I'm just looking at organising a long weekend skiing in March and Champéry came up as a good option as it wasn't that far away from the airport.

Normally I just Google airport transfers to resort name, find a company, pop my dates in and get a quote.

I've been seeing quotes starting at over €500? That was via Alps2alps.

Just seemed a bit steep for such a short transfer (90 mins according to Google maps).

Anyone here use a transfer company they could recommend from Geneva?

Cheers!

Don’t check the helicopter transfer prices!

We’ve done Geneva to tignes a few times and that’s about £700 ish for 4, for a very nice merc minivan who’ll even let you eat a McDo (as they call it) in transit.

Hiring a car would the cheapest option I think.

Train? It's a very, very nice journey along by the lake. 1 change needed, 27CHF (£25) each way. Can pick up the Brig train from the airport.

I think you've just picked a 'unpopular' resort, so generally a big drive from base to/from Champery on top of the transfer itself. Swap to somewhere like Morzine and you'll be looking at ~€100pp return in a shared minibus, just because a lot of the transfer companies have buses based in/around Morzine.

Hire car probably quite cost effective. One other way worth looking into, when I did ski seasons, there were always a few enterprising staff would run transfers for a side hustle, at a heavy discount to the full time operators. Always check the insurance though,

This isn't too far from the truth.

As it's a long weekend trip rather than a full week I'm thinking it's easier to do the slog to Gatwick and fly to Innsbruck and just have an hour transfer to St Anton.

Previously the quick Ski trip would be St Anton via BHX but the flights arrive too late to make the train viable. First world problems, Swiss Air used to do 2 flights a day from BHX to Zurich now its just Easyjet and a lot less choice.
