Hi guys - am planning a 2 week road trip down to Italy early next summer. I have the route pretty sorted but hoping someone can assist with how do I find hotels that have good, secure car parking ?
TIA

How paranoid are you? Would any of these work?

Hotel Lago di Garda in Torbole - reserved space in a 3rd party car park about 200 yds away. Car park is underground and has gates etc, but I think if someone wanted to gain entry they could
Hotel del Porto - Torri del Benaco - parking as above
Hotel Villa Marie - Tremezzo (Lake Como) - Underground car park at the hotel. A bit tight for manoeuvring, and no gates during the day. I think it's locked overnight though.

I left my Maserati in the Garage St Marco car park in Venice - Ferris Bueller style. You have to leave the car unlocked and the key on the dashboard. Absolutely zero issues. We only took an overnight bag with us into Venice - the rest of the luggage for a 4 week roadtrip was left in the unlocked car.

I've done several road trips through Italy, and my biggest concern about parking the car is how to transport luggage from the car to the hotel. The only place where this was more challenging than ideal was in the Locanda Del Benaco in Salo. We parked in a public car park (again no issues) but had to carry our luggage through narrow streets. Given that the car is a Maserati Gran Cabrio, our luggage consisted of several small bags, rather than one or two suitcases.
