Jersey or Guernsey 2024?
Discussion
Morning. Both are fantastic. Jersey is larger and busier on the whole, Guernsey is smaller and more quaint I would say. I personally prefer Guernsey but love both. Lots of history, stunning beaches and amazing food. If you can land on the weather, it’s hard to beat the Channel Islands. Given that Jersey is the hottest place in the British isles, it shouldn’t be too hard to get good weather- see below the image taken from an open top public bus from my visit last September.
Flying depends on how much luggage you have. If I was travelling light I'd do Easyjet to Jersey. The local options like Aurigny and Blue Islands may be cheaper if you have luggage. No budget airline goes to Guernsey.
The ferry may cost slightly less for a period return but not by a great deal if you book flights early.
Wouldn't really want to be without a car for at least some of the time. A lot of the pleasure is ambling around the lanes, but the Guernsey bus service is very comprehensive. Haven't used any on Jersey.
Sark is a must see, that's 45 minutes by boat from Guernsey, though it's probably gone a long way downhill since I went there. Herm is likely to be more cheerful and it's a short hop from Guernsey harbour.
Since you're already there I'd look into a day trip or night on Alderney which is very different again. Not cheap to get to from the UK, but there's a boat from Guernsey in summer which is a bit less than an hour and there are regular flights from Guernsey.

Had a week in Guernsey for the Inter Island Games in July. Loved the place - a better quality Isle of Wight (where we live) it was a home from home . Some hairy moments navigating my Nissan Navarra here and there and am used to single track roads but the museums were excellent. Superb beaches With A friday sunny evening meaning everyone was out on them but never a crowd. Superb restaurants LaReunion in Cobo Bay is epic and The Lobster & Grill simply awesome. Would not ferry again it was bloody rough . Fly is the way to go and hire E bikes no need for a car if its fine .
Search for "Jersey International Motoring Festival" and visit the island when that is happening.
The sprints, hillclimbs and other events are great and as the closed roads are known a long time in advance the event doesn't shut the island down for the weekend. You can still get around the island as long as you know where the events/closed roads are.
I've been twice and have thorougly enjoyed both weekends taking in the motorsport events plus generally enjoying driving around and "seeing the sights".
