I'm an advanvced boarder and an inter+ skiier, but I don't enjoy skiing reds in France or Italy. I just want to relax and bomb along, not fight my way down the piste that slowly gets turned into moguls, and my other half is a timid skiier who's day is ruined if she's forced onto a crowded red to get back to resort.

Never tried Austria so going to do that. I've had it with France and their crazy eating and drinking prices - not been back for a long time, normally ski Italy now but they can be lacking on blues in my (limited, sauz d'oulx and Livigno) . (so you don't suggest the absolutely fab beginner resort of La Plagne where I cut my teeth skiing).

So what I'm looking for is Austrian, nice pretty character resort (and good eating and drinking) and loads and loads of nice wide blues so I can skii with her and we both enjoy ourselves (normally I'd shoot off pisted on my board but that's not what this is about this time).

So... pretty skii village, loads fo blues? recommendations? Cheers!

p.s. I would add, I'll not rule out Italy - love the place, but just fancied trying Austrtia for a different experience.

Anywhere in the skiwelt is great. Soll, westendorf, scheffau… etc. all pretty towns surrounding massive connected ski area.

Cheers! Looked into the skiwelt area and it looks bloody perfect! Just booked us a full apartment package, flights , transfers, lift passes, skis and boots £2700 for the two of us , flying from our local airport.

Nice one, thanks!

Thread closed lol!

Ischgl worth consideration too, especially if you like hearing other British voices to be the exception rather than the norm. Your wife would want to be taking the gondola down though as while loads of well connected, motorway wide blues up the mountain the home runs all reds and while fun early in the day often just carnage at the end of the day (to the point even as experienced skiiers we often bin them off and jump in the gondola if our accomodation isn't actually next to one of them).

Yeah - that's what one of my fav resorts, Livigno is like at the end of the day - overcrowded scramble down a red (or a near vertical black if you take a wrong turn) - literally carnage.

We want to be able to ski right back to resort in a relaxed fashion. Very much looking forward to what we've booked.

If you haven't tried the black sections of the Ischgl home runs I recommend you (but maybe not your wife) do. Nothing like splitting off from the chickens playing 'crashed skier slalom' around the massivly cut up red loop to take the black that cuts the corner...and find yourself skiing on untouched corduroy at 4pm.

I would look at Lech. It's linked to Zurs and also St Anton if you want to ski further.

Lech's bloody dear though - better idea is to base in St Anton and go across to Lech and Zurs for days, just make sure you're ready for long queues for the lift back to across to STA at the end of the day. The skiing over in Lech and Zurs is 'cruisy' though if that's your thing.
