Tips & Recommendations for Sardinia

We have been toying with going here for years now but finally looks like it may happen June 2024 so starting to do some proper research. Just the wife and I, no kids and we prefer the quiet rather than hustle & bustle. Probably looking at 10-12 nights and from my searching so far Cagliari in the South seems the quieter place to start. We like day trips, picturesque beaches, eating out but also just chilling. So small adult only hotels or possibly a villa / Air BnB or 2 and will want car rental.

Anyone been and have any tips & recommendations inline with the above?
