Hi All,

We’re thinking of going to Disneyland Paris in March 2024 with our girls who will be nearly 3 and nearly 5. We’ll be flying from Aberdeen so don’t really want to hire a car unless we have to.

The issue we’re having is finding a hotel within walking distance or courtesy bus ride to the park that has a sensible layout for two adults and two small children. They all seem to have two double beds with no separation. Has anyone stayed somewhat that had a decent family room setup with kids bunk beds in an alcove or similar?

Thanks!

I’d have to say that no Hotels are within walking distance to the park, even the Disney ones are a long walk to the park gates, and with knackered kids, you’re likely to take the courtesy bus.

We have stayed in Sequioa Lodge and Newport bay, they had two doubles and a fold up/ sofa bed thing that worked, but it’s a bit claustrophobic, so it’s sleeping chambers only really.

Something like Blackpool Pleasure Beach’s Big Blue would be ideal, bunk beds in the alcove each with TV, play station etc., never found anything like that at DLP.

We've stayed in all of the walkable Disney Hotels over the years from the Cheyenne, Santa Fe, Sequoia, Newport Bay, New York and main Disney Hotel. I think over the years one or two more have been added. The only one I recall having bunks was the Sequoia. The Cheyenne and Santa Fe are about 20 min walk from the park which isn't a problem in the morning when the kids are excited. On the way home you're carrying them but it's preferable to the bus! The ones around the Lake are a lot closer ~ 10 mins. Don't underestimate the size of some of them. It took us 5-10 mins to get to our room in the Newport Bay!

The best thing about staying in the Disney Hotels is that you often get the characters walking around the main hotel areas for meet and greet photos which takes the edge off queueing with the masses in the main park.

And Magic Hours. Take advantage of them. Get yo' ass up early for breakfast, get to the park gates early and enjoy the of the lack of crowds. It makes the whole day less stressful and less of a competition. I didn't see the point of using the hotel gym and pools. You're there for the parks.

Thanks gents, frustrating that the family room options aren't ideal but I suspect the kids will be so knackered that it might be OK!

I've been once years ago but my wife a few times with our little grandchildren - I just checked in case I was mis-remembering and my wife seemed bemused by the question, they had no issues walking back to those hotel (and also NewYork).

Doesn't the Disneyland Hotel let you get straight into the main park?

I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old and looking at going in June. We're planning on jumping on the train from the airport straight to Disney so it avoids car hire etc.

The Disney hotel is inside the park and a very short work I'm led to believe. They have family rooms as far as I'm aware but my little one will be in a cot so it's not as big a deal for us - https://www.disneyholidays.co.uk/disneyland-paris/...

Pricey mind.

Cheers, the Disney hotel looks good and we don’t mind the cost but if you look at the room options they’re basically all two double beds right next to each other - a really odd arrangement! I was hoping to find something where we can put the kids to bed and at least sit somewhere to read with a glass of wine but we’d have to turn all the lights off. No good for a napping two year old either!

Thinking we might just have to go for the Center Parcs type arrangement nearby and suck up the car hire cost but it’s a shame to miss the golden hour and the Disney characters potentially being in the hotel.

Yeah we did think that but it'll be Ipads and headphones for us alongside the wine I think

Whilst you won't like this...but its not really worth it.

If you are going to DLP, you won't really spend that much time in the hotel room. Combine with fireworks and breakfast, its cold well be a 0700 out the hotel door and back in again at 2130-2200

Those style of rooms are readily available in TUI family resorts, but not really a Disney thing and even in Orlando they are rare and very very expensive.

Yes, I woudn't think about relaxing in the room once the kids are in bed - you'll probably want to be going to bed at the same time!

WDW (Orlando) has some family suites but they don't seem to have done them in DLP.

My girls are adults now, but we took them to the park twice over the years.
First time, we stayed at a Disney hotel it was Davy Crockett's. The hotel was really quite tired, breakfast was mental, etc.
The 2nd time was in 2009 (yep, that long ago!), and we stayed in a hotel off site but in the vicinity - on the circular road that surrounds the park. It had a courtesy bus to/from the park gates.

I think the Davy Crockett hotel had separate rooms, the girls in bunk beds. I seem to recall the 2nd place had separate rooms, too.

Thanks for this, the layout at the Davy Crockett ranch looks much more like what we want but there's no courtesy bus so would have to get a hire car.

Why is nothing ever easy?! Appreciate all the input so far, I'm currently swinging towards just getting one of the family rooms closest to the resort and adjusting our mindset a bit so that it's just a place to sleep rather than somewhere we'll be spending any time as a family!

Village Nature is very expensive and on a par with UK CP for pricing. Once again, its a holiday destination on its own and a lot of money to spend if you are going on a Disney based holiday and only sleeping there.

I found it reasonable for a family environment with a cottage.

Couple of days Disney, couple of days there then back to the tunnel.

Although we have also done hotel BB in other parts of France with the family rooms, and they are cheap as chips and a smashing breakfast.

We stayed in the Davy Crockett ranch when we went with young kids and found it to be a good compromise. It's owned by Disney so you could still see the characters around the centre although from what I remember the appearances were more timetabled than the hotels sound. Yes you'll need a car (we drove over so not a problem for us) but the advantage is that you get a whole caravan/cabin to yourself, separate bedroom for the kids, plus kitchenette, lounge etc.

Thanks for that - it does perhaps sound like a good compromise and looks like you still get the Magic Hour which is decent. Hire cars aren't too unreasonable and it saves the need for arranging a transfer from the airport, too. Interesting!

Just back from Disneyland Paris with two girls who are almost 3 and almost 5 so I thought I'd let you know what we did.

We booked the Sequoia Lodge family room (2 double beds), we asked for two bed guards at reception to stop the kids falling out of the beds.

We took a double pram to get to and from the park (even though our eldest is too old for a pram, this was a game changer). It's a 10 min walk to the park gates with the kids in the pram.

Although it's not ideal to all be in one room, it worked OK for us. Once the kids were asleep we just chilled out (although TBH we weren't far behind them going to sleep after long, tiring days).

One other thing I would say is use the early magic hour if you stay in a Disney hotel, try and get to the park gates for 8am (there's a security checkpoint between the hotels and park gates which opens at 7:45am). In the early magic hour we got 3 or 4 rides done each time.

Ah perfect, thanks for sharing how you got on! Sounds ideal. You’ve not mentioned whether you actually had a good time though?!

Magic Circus (not a “Disney resort hotel” but it is a Disney-area hotel on the shuttle route) have some great family rooms where the kids sleep in bunks inside a makeshift circus tent - might be worth a look.

IIRC it was about 15mins on the shuttle to DLP.
