We are on a big 3 family trip over new year.

Any suggestions for where to eat/party New Year’s Eve?

Ages from 9 to 50 but like live music and good family (not fine dining!) food and thinking we need to book somewhere for 11 of us…

Have you been before? There's not a lot outside of the hotels which is part of the charm. Where are you staying? There Pic-nic which is pizzas etc, and Mama Mia Pizzeria. No doubt the Nederhutte will be in full swing.

As above, dining out is pretty limited in Obergurgl. I'd look at one of the town centre hotels to book...Edelweiss and Gurgl if you want a sit down meal, go up the mountain if you want live music though. Perhaps there's something on in town as it's NY?

We've only ever stayed at one hotel in Obergurgl-The Bergwelt, 6 times now. Its been a few years now and I still get a birthday and Christmas card off them smile

I'm fairly sure they don't cater for non residents but not sure about others. It will be busy over New Year so I'd be surprised if many do and will be fairly fancy.

The only place I can think of is a fairly new restaurant next to Lohmans shop. It's called See You, been in a couple of times for drinks, I'm sure they will be able to cater for your group.

Thanks for the replies. I’ve not been before, and it looks like we’ll probably just spend it in the hotel if there’s not a lot else about.

The Nederheutte is an Obergurgl institution and well worth a trip up the mountain, the atmosphere is brilliant!

I recall getting stuck in there one lunctime with Mrs Loto when it closed in and snowed hard until late afternoon - we were led down the mountain, pissed as rats, by torch light! God knows how we stayed upright.

Nederheutte is superb!

We've been going to Obergurgl for years as part of a road trip and staying at The Edielweiss, then did skiing there this year.

We stayed at Hotel Alpina, which was a wonderful, friendly and with excellent links to various routes. Can't recommend it enough, and was better than Edielweiss.

We had our 11 year old daughter with us, and she had a fabulous time with the remaining adults. Great atmosphere wherever you go, but nightlife is limited.
