Skiing

Long lunches high up in the mountains, enjoying the sun, the view and the vino. Fresh air and exercise in the morning.

California tour. San Fran-Yosemite-Death Valley-Vegas-LA-San Fran

In April it was quiet and we had snow on the ground in Yosemite in the morning, then mega hot in Death Valley that evening.

Wouldn't be cheap in the USA currently and San Fran sadly seems to be getting ever worse.....

Family is a broad term...

What's the make up?

Not a lot of point recommending skiing if you've got 3 under 5...

Not a family holiday but Deffo the best April holiday I’ve had was a similar road trip. LA > San Diego > monument Valley > Coachella > Vegas > LA

Weather was perfect throughout but echo the point above regarding temperatures. Needing a ‘big coat’ in Flagstaff having been baking in San Diego the same morning was a surprise.

Trip was more food and music based, so maybe totally different depending on how old your kids are.

Best family holiday in April was Malaysia a few years ago. A few nights in Kuala Lumpur for the city thing then a quick flight to Langkawi for some island relaxing. Stayed in apartments, beach huts and small hotels. Kids absolutely loved it and weather was great.

North Devon

We always go in April and without exception, the weather has been cracking. It's usually better than June.

And if it is a bit dull, the surf has been good.

Agree with skiing, but we've had a great week at Easter touring Cornwall in a motorhome and last Easter had a week near Fort William. (Booked the Wednesday before when the weather looked nailed on...)

Not quite as glamorous as some mentioned above, but a few years ago we booked an old coastguard cottage on the south side of the Isle of Wight (ie away from the 'tourist' areas). It was the week before Easter and the weather was fab; no mobile phone or internet signal was an added bonus! We wandered along the beach looking for dinosaur footprints, went to some of the 'famous' Isle of Wight tourist attractions (most of which are actually quite rubbish!) and eating cream teas. In the evening we wandered through a field of sheep/lambs to the local pub that had some great beer and fantastic food.

We had a great time.
