Fancy nipping off for a couple of weeks sun whilst not in half term..

Not been to tenerriffe in almost 10 years and used to stay at the Sir Anthony at Los Christanos due to adult only.

Used to be a nice area, is it still the go to place for a quiet luxury stay in that area of tenerriffe?

Has the south changed much? is it to be avoided around there now?

Any 5 star recommendations that might be a better bet?

We're in Tenerife next week. Last few years used same hotel. Royal Corales. It's got two conjoined parts, one of which is 'adults only' but both are perfectly adequate.

Personally we prefer the Adeje area of South T to either Americas or Cristianos, but we're old and boring now so others' opinions may vary.

Agree with Adeje. Lots of nice hotels with space for adults to be away from the kids even if they're not adult only up near Duque.

Problem with Adeje, as much as I prefer it, is the weather can be cloudy when the other side of the island is basking in sunshine.

Thanks, from memory the south side always had the better weather, much greener and wetter north side?

Sir Anthony looks like its had a refurb and quite like the private pools on top of the rooms that they still have but they’re quite full, so thinking a week here and then go with your recommendation for Agde on a 2nd week.

Seems its quite busy as the no.1 5* is completely fully booked already..

They are, as you say, plenty of 5 star options that direction so will take a look at availability across them, maybe not even adult only due to kids being in school.. could widen our options.

Thanks for input.

Flights & sir Anthony booked for 8 days, could upgrade to another suite for the nest 6 days but quite like the idea of moving on & trying something new tbh

maybe even north side, loved the parrot park from memory as it had an incredible gorilla enclosure didnt it? maybe theres a nice hotel up that way..

We have friends who live on Golf del Sur, not far from the airport. We’ve been twice but haven’t managed to get away from busy Los Americas and Los Cristianos yet. I’d like to get out into the quieter areas. We prefer Gran Canaria, and our new favourite after just coming back is Madeira.

Another shout for Costa Adeje. We tend to stay in the hotels up near the fancy circular shopping centre; jardines, gran costa, Bahia etc. very nice part of the world. Food in Caletta (30 mins coastal walk or €5 taxi) recommended too.

Thanks, shopping centre is a good shout as we save that for when away on this type of break, will look out for it..

Though we’ve taken advantage of a late cancellation policy on red level @ gran melia for 2nd week as a back up, think it’s a bit further up than Adeje tho..

I think the earlier poster meant costa adeje rather than adeje proper which is further north. Would say that (costa adeje) is a rather better area to be in than los critianos personally while getting the same sunny conditions.

We’ve been going to Tenerife for years for some winter sun and always stay in The Royal Tenerife in Golf del Sur which is only 15 mins from the airport. It’s a nice quiet little place and suits our needs as we generally hire a car to get about the island.

I’ll be back there again in February, but this time I’m taking my parents with me and have booked an Airbnb for the 4 of us in La Mareta which is close to Golf del Sur and Los Abrigos.

We occasionally drive to Los Christianos, mainly on a night for food and a bit of a wander. The times I have been there during the day though it has been slightly cloudy.

That's strange. This is on the hotel website's contacts page:

AV. DE LAS AMÉRICAS S/N
38660 PLAYA DE LAS AMÉRICAS, ARONA
SANTACRUZ DE TENERIFE, SPAIN
+34 922 75 75 45

Are you sure they're wrong about it? hehe

Las americas address, yes, but its location and its surrounding area is far more cristianos in style, las americas central and many of its hotels are very nasty (as you’d expect)

Or at least thats how it was the last time we were there biggrin sir anthony is still getting stonking reviews and spoke with the same concierge through our old emails from 10 years ago! Who said it was still a lovely area, nothing much has changed apparently

Its easier to understand from an image (maybe) area to left is the prt to avoid.

I think what you're trying to say is that it's a really good hotel in a really nice part of Las Americas. That would make sense, and is inarguably the reality.

Am I wrong?

I live in the North of the island and keep away from Cristianos as my friend staying with us recently got pick pocketed there and it is generally too noisy, far too Benidorm for my liking but if you like the night life enjoy...

That car scrapyard fella and his MRS off the telly stays there.
We always stay in the Mediterranean Palace just behind the Anthony.

Proper council us.
