Recommend me a holiday
Discussion
Currently sitting by the pool waiting to head home from our current holiday (Kos) and thoughts are now shifting to the next. We're looking to go away in late March/April next year and am struggling on a destination so some inspiration please...
We prefer pool/beach holidays with things to do outside of the hotel - sun and mid-high 20's temperature ideal
Happy with any board basis, but if self catered eating out has to be reasonably priced and nice
3 of us including a baby who will have just turned 1
Flight time if <9 hours but shorter the better given the baby
7-10 days away and ideally baby friendly
Budget of £2-3k total for flights/accommodation - if SC needs to be lower end of the range
With all that in mind are there any recommendations?

I would have suggested southern Egypt for the shortish flight. I found Dubai/Oman quite expensive, but they'll be warm enough I think and possibly just within your 9 hour flight time.
Thanks - is Egypt safe/pleasant enough to venture outside of the hotel? Only other negative thing I've heard is re. Food quality and other related issuesDubai was on the list but as we've been before it was quite £££, especially if you like a beer or 3 in the evening

Red Sea coast such as Marsa Alam is pretty safe, you can wander around at night. Stay in the interior, somewhere such as Luxor, and you can take in the ancient sites as well. In my experience there's nothing wrong with Egyptian food, it's the mass produced stuff in AI hotels that causes the poorly stomachs.Dubai was on the list but as we've been before it was quite £££, especially if you like a beer or 3 in the evening
Luxor itself is a little bit more devout so you'll struggle to find many bars in town that sell alcohol. All the hotels should though, and there's a few well known bars that do
