We're off to America next July and are looking at travel insurance, the quotes are averaging £130 for 15 days which seems a bit steep, any recommendations for travel insurance brokers?

You think it's steep? What are you comparing this to? And you are going to USA. We are off to Italy this week for 5 days and the TI cost is £239.

Just done a quote with Aviva- £330!!

I’d say £130 for the States is OK.

That is expensive (age and/or pre-existing health conditions?). Annual multi trip for us is only £180 if we took it out alone.
Through wife’s Lloyds Bank account it’s £140pa worldwide inc winter sports and also has breakdown and mobile phone insurance.

Me & the missus (48 & 44 at time of holiday) and 2 teenagers, no medical issues either, we haven't travelled outside of UK\Europe since 2019 so appreciate costs have change appropriately (Covid, etc), just seems a lot compared to euro holidays we have been on.

So four of you…can’t see you getting it any cheaper then.

Suppose it depends on what the cover actually looks like, but 2 quid per person per day against probably the most expensive health care system in the world if it goes wrong sounds like a bargain smile

Paid £77 for Worldwide cover including USA. 2 of us no medical conditions with Cover for you Gold. Included gadget cover and excess waiver.
was about average when we got it in Jan. £130 doesnt seem that bad considering how much things have shot up in the last few months

Yeah when you put it like that...

Been steered towards Columbus travel insurance, similar headline figure but better coverage for the price (£3000 cancellation cover as oppose to only £1000 for example).

I think it is a mistake to compare the cost of TI cover for USA with the cost of cover or Europe.

True, although as it's our only experience of travel insurance it's an obvious thing to do.

Columbus insurance looks like a winner, at the slightly cheaper end of the prices we have seen and more cover than most.
