I'm off to KL next week for two weeks for a friends wedding

I have the second week free, but I will be working UK timezone and the return flight is from KL.

I have the 2nd - 9th free and trying to work out where best to stay. The first week will be in KL so prefer not to stay there
Ideally somewhere where there is good food choices and safe and perhaps 2-3 hour flight max?

Any recommendations?

I need to buy a a 3 piece suit also so any recommendations would be nice.

Pop over to Phuket. Pick up a rental car and explore the island for a week!

If you want the beach experience catch the morning flight to Langkawi and then the afternoon ferry to Koh Lipe for 5-6 nights return via same route. Any further information on ferry times etc happy to help

Not a fan of KL at all personally, if it were me I would either head up to Hong Kong and Sanya for a week or head down to Bali - both easy on AirAsia etc.

Thailand is lovely but personally really dislike Phuket, Samui, Phi Phi etc.

From KL I flew to siem reap and loved it, 5 days gives you a few days to explore the temples and the town itself which isn't huge but has plenty of food and drink options.

Angkor Wat and the other temples are a must IMO but I understand some might find this boring.

Never liked KL for some reason - but as has been suggested if you haven't been to Angkor Wat (& others) then go there. Cheap internal flight, hire a driver and do some of the lesser known temples - awesome place.

Loved Siam Reap and Angkor, best temple is Bayon, get the 3 day pass hire driver and tuk tuk for the day $10, morning temples and afternoon around the pool. Although food in Cambodia not as great as Thailand but all the same fantastic experience

great idea for a handful of days. For a hotel I recommend the Somadevi. Can be had for half rack rate and is a lovely place after a dusty day temple exploring. To find Angkor Watt "boring" you gotta be under 17, or, well, god help you.

Thailand, agree about Phuket Samui and phi phi (to some extent, there are still lovely places to stay on Phi Phi but it's heart breaking that the first thing you see when arriving on your boat / ferry is the golden arches ). Koh lipe tip above is good.
