For the first time in my adult life, I can take part in international football competition travel plans as a Scot - yea haa.

Thinking of taking the wee man across to Germany for a week. No chance of a match ticket but take in the atmosphere, few dozen beers etc.

Don't fancy a hotel as he'd get bored, so looking for a Eurocamp style campsite for a week, within one hour of the host cities on the West side of the country (basically, within 4-6hrs of Calais).

Any recommendations for something around Dusseldorf, Koln, Dortmund or Gelsenkirchen? Would even consider Belgium or Holland if it had relatively easy access via public transport to one of the mentioned cities.

Thanks guys beer

I've applied for the ticket lottery for the 3 Scotland group games, so thinking about camping also.

Games are Munich 14th, Colonge 19th and Stuttgart 23rd.

Plan is to fly over and get a hire car for a week and a half.

Looking for camping suggestions near each of the cities

There arent too many actual Eurocamps in Germany. There is one called sudsee Camp which is south of Hamburg, another called Herbholzheim near the black forest and one called Gitzenweiler in the south near Lindau.

We've been to Sudsee camp and its not a bad site, its not as clean and tidy as some other sites with generally older caravans but there are two or three bars on site, the usual parks etc and a reasonable pool complex.

We'd happily stay there again.

Belgium doesnt have any eurocamps but there are some sites on the belgian coast.

Holland does have a few decent eurocamps but only a couple are over towards the german border. We absolutely love Duinrell but thats close to the coast near The Hague.
