Morning all - being a bit lazy, i haven't used the search function, sorry.

Quick one - what's the best way to achieve an approx. £2.5k holiday to any of the canary islands? This would be during Feb 2024 school half term with 3 kids.

I haven't been on a package holiday for 30 years - should I consider the complete package or is it better to stick to separate flights and accommodation.

Does anyone have a contact for a good travel coordinator?

I have seen some easyjet flights for £1,300 - i dread to go back and check again now as no doubt the same flights are now £1,600. Just my luck.

Not sure you need anything other than TUI or Jet 2 to book a package holiday.

They should both have options for a week in the canaries.

Thanks - we'll have a look. Was just wondering if anyone had any 'silver bullet' tips and tricks.

Just book with Tui/Jet 2. There isn't a silver bullet. They are what they say they are. Tui is my default as their website/app is quite detailed on the resorts.

One thing I would do (and I always do) is ditch the coach transfers and arrange your own transfers with a local taxi firm. Unless of course you like sitting on a coach going on a milk round of drop offs and pick ups.

Just back from Lanzarote with Jet2.

All good apart from delay coming home.

Won't put me off from using them again.

Stayed at Iberostar b&b. Nice hotel, short walk to restaurants.

You might want to go self catering. Easy to walk down the street for breakfast. Same with dinners.

February, I would look for a heated pool.

Have a look on loveholdays.com, it's the best place to find a bargain, though make sure you add luggage and transfers (available through them) for a true comparison. It's a great site as it allows you to search with lots of wildcards, and with multiple airports at the same time.

Of the mainstream agents, I prefer Jet2, and if you register for their newsletter you normally get a code for £100 off a holiday.

Both of these, doubly-so if you've space to eat in wherever you stay - carton of juice and some fresh fruit from the hyperdino, fresh bread/croissants and coffee from the local bakery.

We've done Playa Blanca a number of times with young kids as it ticked a lot of boxes, and have done F'ventura and GC as well. Feb weather will be "OK", but not massively hot (t-shirt by the pool territory unless you get lucky with a heatwave).

I would compare flights + accom'n separately to package deals - we've seen price differences both ways (we always check). With 3 kids you may find a better deal renting an apartment or small villa somewhere, as unless you can luck into a family suite, the 5 of you will be on top of each other in a typical hotel room. Of course, if you get an apartment/villa, you've then not got ready access to kids clubs and "entertainment" (if either of those are your thing).

...I also think that, for your budget, you'll either have to compromise on town/resort you're in, or the quality of the accommodation (or the distance from beach/bars/restaurants), even for 1 week. But see how you get on.

With three kids, don’t discount villa holidays. Can be a blessing having your own pool and much more space.

Jet2 do villa holidays and cover the Canaries. We used them for Lanzarote and they were very good and not too much more than staying at a resort and they’ll handle everything for you from flights to car hire with zero faff factor.
