Just come back from a weeks holiday on the island.
Probably one of the best holidays I have had.

Peace and quiet.
Lovely views.
Great beaches.
Incredible wildlife.

The slow pace of life was perfect.

Stayed near Kildonan if anyone knows it.

Would highly recommend and will be back again for sure.

Did you try the local gin? Even better, in their bar? Nicest gin I’ve ever tasted.

You mean the Isle of Arran's real? I thought it was just an urban legend to explain that cloud that seems to permanently sit off the coast from Troon! wink

Kildonan. Did you see any sea otters? I did, and told the hotel owner I’d seen a gigantic rat.
It was 1962. I was 10.

I went there as a child in my school summer holidays.

It absolutely pissed it down all day, every day.

My Mother twisted her ankle on a rabbit burrow. I fell down a small cliff. A trawler sunk off the coast whilst we were there. I was sick on the ferry on the way back, and my Fathers Orion Ghia i broke down on the way back home.

It was the worst summer holiday I’ve ever had.

Funnily enough, I’ve never felt the urge to go back.

Were you able to get there and back without the ferry being cancelled because it was broken (again) / wrong sort of wind / whatever daft reason CalMac could come up with?

If so, well done!

I have very fond memories of Arran. It was where i spend most of my summer holidays with my family as a kid. It always seemed to be sunny whenever i was there, back in the late 70's and 80's.

I've not visited the island in a long time, although i was meant to go over a few weeks back with work colleagues to climb Goat Fell.

Sods law, when we arrived at Ardrossan for the ferry over it had broken down, requiring a change of plan. (Did the Queens view and the Devils pulpit instead)

I'll get back some time.

We did, was incredible.
First time I've seen them in the wild, Couldn't stop watching!
Then saw another at the ferry terminal in Broddick.

Wish it had been cancelled on the way back and that we were still there smile
