I used Airalo in Cape Verde - seemed to do the job, wasn't even aware of e-sims before then. Handy if your provider screws you on roaming charges.
This, used Airalo in Turkey recently, good value, it just worked, bit of a faff to initially set up (read the instructions) however I had been awake over 24 hours, which probably didn't help lol. Wouid definately use them again.

3 PAYG SIMs still provide free (as in use your allowance) roaming in 70 odd countries. Costa Rica is amongst them.
No idea if they do eSIMs but handy if you need to call back to the UK for anything it's a godsend (conversely it's terrible if you want to call local).
famiily arr with three and they are quite good with roaming, if it’s not free it’s not too much to add it.No idea if they do eSIMs but handy if you need to call back to the UK for anything it's a godsend (conversely it's terrible if you want to call local).
I’m with EE payg who are far from good wrt roaming.

People on plans have to pay but not if you're on PAYG.
