Apologies if this should be in the Food, Drink and Restaurant section.....

I am travelling to Istanbul in a few weeks and am staying near the Hagia Sophia for a few nights.
Anyone got any super experiences with restaurants in the area? It seems the area is rammed with kebab places but are there any gems to look out for?
Many thanks!!

the famous one not too far from there is Donerci Sahin Usta, was about 20 minute line. It was decent, but they dont seem to put much in the way of sauce into their kebabs, so i found it pretty dry.

If you go to a sit down kebab place try out the iskender kebab, which is on a plate with tomato sauce.

Further from you is Kofteci Huseyin 1958, which is a kofte restaurant, really good, simple though, probably not worth the drive in itself, but the area is interesting to walk around in.

Also worth going to https://goo.gl/maps/5iCmeXxhLQJkac9f9 and ordering the Alinazik kebab, on a plate with aubergine, yoghurt and chilli oil. Was taken there on a walking food tour of the city and really enjoyed it.
