Any recommendations for 7-10 days in Miami this month?

My wife and I, and 9 and 11 year old daughters.

Love sports, jets skis, boats, adrenaline stuff.

Worth trying the Keys?

That's kind of a big question given the amount of things there are to do in Miami and the Keys. I've been living in South Beach for about 7 years now and happy to answer any questions you have.

First things is, Miami, Miami Beach and the Keys are expensive. Prices have gone crazy since covid. You're coming in low season, when all the snowbirds have gone North but that effect is a lot less than it used to be. It's busy year round now. Even in low season, hotels, drinks, etc. are expensive - think Paris or London prices. It's also going to be seriously hot and humid. Fingers crossed for no storms, you're right in the middle of hurricane season.

Hire a car, take the Sunpass option when you get the car. You can't get around without a car. Use Uber or Lyft when you don't want to drive. Local taxis are pretty nasty.

Hire bikes, onewheels, skateboards or some other form of transport and do the boardwalk from South Pointe up towards Haulover, past Ocean Drive. Sit and watch the crazies go by for a while.

Drive to Key West and stay a night or two in one of the middle keys, Islamorada, Marathon, etc. Some nice places to stay and good places to eat. Plenty places to hire watersports gear or a boat. Pleant diving, snorkelling, etc.

You're coming at the wrong time for watching most of the sports but you might be lucky and get a ticket to see Messi if you try. As for playing/trying sports, you can try anything in this area. Watersports are big obviously, wakesurfing doesn't need wind and great fun. Kayaks, paddleboards can be hired, as can Hobies, kiteboarding equipment, wings and foils, it's all there. Unfortunately, there are lots of jetski rental places as well. Be careful at the weekend because it goes crazy, especially at the sandbars.

I wont rattle on but if you have any specific questions, fire away.

cheers,

Thanks for the reply.

Is Miami Beach more suited to families than South Beach?

Definitely looking to hire a car and get out and explore as well, so will get booked and get back to you with more questions.

Miami Beach is the 11 mile long sandbar sitting about three miles offshore from the city of Miami. They are connected by a few causeways. The southernmost portion of Miami Beach is South Beach and is the most popular area for tourists. Ocean Drive from 5th to 16th is the main tourist area, lined with restaurants, park, etc. Good fun but maybe not particularly suitable for young kids especially in the evenings.

The rest of Miami Beach would be great for kids, no problem at all.

You'll enjoy that, Fontainbleau is really nice. Hakkasan is excellent and Bleau bar in the lobby is probably the best of the hotel bars. Cecconi's in Soho Beach House, right next door, is good for Sunday brunch.

Been out to the Keys, loved that, coolest places on earth.

Visited South Beach this evening for a drive thru, very busy and not really for me.

Love it here! Could drive round all day looking at stunning properties and boats!
