My best mate and I turn 40 in 2025 and I want to book a really good break to celebrate it. 2 weeks, somewhere quiet and sunny with a beach where we'll be looked after and not surrounded by loads of other people.

There will be 4 adults and 4 kids in total.

I started off looking at something like this https://www.yachtcharterfleet.com/luxury-charter-y... for a week but the more I look at it the less value I see in it - although it would be awesome!

Budget isn't set in stone. Any interesting ideas appreciated.

No t sure how many people here have experience of spending £50k on a holiday. I certainly don’t. I did once charter a yacht across the Solent to IOW and back but that was £hundreds not £thousands smile

Family of 4 peak time in a 4 star hotel is 15k easy.

Me, i would spend 40k on a car and 10k on fuel and digs and have a good time driving around, but not on a fan on pandering or very expensive places, i like to feel the culture when i travel.

Do you want to stay in the same place? Kudadoo in the Maldives would probably suit, however the kids bring their own obstacles dependant on their ages

There are some nice places in the south of France, you can have chefs to cook for you.

Maybe you could fly private

Sounds great

Pick any place you could spend that money, 50k in London is nothing, 50k in Blackpool you would be the King.

50k opens up so much possibilities, chartered boats, private tours etc. It just depends what you want from a Holiday really.

Necker Island - you would need more people and bigger budget though.

https://www.virginlimitededition.com/en/necker-isl...

We did it with 20 other family groups / couples about 9yrs ago now and managed to get a great rate on it, and it was a true once in a lifetime for me (and a lot of the others there) and I cant really see myself spending that much on a weeks holiday ever again.

We had exclusive use of the whole island which at the time capacity was about 40 people so worked out about $21k per person at the time for the island and then flights to/from the UK.

The 8 of us are doing a cruise on Disney Wish followed by 10 nights at one of the Disney resorts next August. You're not wrong.

Saw the brief and was about to suggest a yacht.... and saw you did.

How about a full on sailing yacht instead ? https://oysteryachts.com/sailing-charters/

It would also be A1 food, service, personal too....
(without a fk off fuel bill at the end)

Up the budget a little and do it right

https://www.marina-balear.com/pure-yachting/en/yac...

Remember you’ll still have fuel and port fees to pay - and a 10% tip in cash to the crew is customary. You’ll never forget it though.
