My girlfriend has found a deal to Mauritius at the end of November. I've looked on-line and the daily maximum temperature is around 25 with a minimum of 19.

I don't know much else about Mauritius as it's never been on my radar. Is November a good time to go and is there much to do there?

We went in late October 2021 and it was fabulous. It gets warmer after that making it even better. Well worth the trip.

Other sites list the average in Nov as 29. We went in Jan (average 30) and it was heavenly. Jan is well into the rainy season but all the rain stayed south. It literally pissed it down every day from the airport to the middle of the island, then stopped there! Our taxi driver said ists always like that in the rainy season, wet in the south dry in the north. Eying the forecast was nerve wracking on the flight. Rain rain rain. But the pilots fiance was sat next to us and said ignore it, it's always like that but you'll be fine in the North. She was right!

Anyhow, Nov is just before the rainy season.

Is there anything to do other than sitting on your backside and paddling in the sea? Not a bad thing but think I'd go a bit stir crazy after a few days. Wife is keen, just wondering if I should go with it!

East v. West seems important too. We went I think first half of October and it was a little cool and grey a few days, staying in the north west. Hired a car and went to the east and it was like being in a North Sea storm. Amazing how location can affect conditions in such a small place. I think November should be ok, but check the resort location.

We did an AI here:

https://www.kenwoodtravel.co.uk/indian-ocean-holid...

We went there instead of our usualy Thailand as it was lockdown time and Maurtius were the most relaxed in this regard.

In resort there are three things to to

1) sunbathe
2) get free little boat to private island and sunbathe
3) eat and drink
4) free daily sailing boat (yacht) trips - swim with turtles etc, you could go fishing too
5) free snorkelling with boat that takes you out

It was heavenly (if a little overrun with kids) but you had to make your own fun in terms of things to do. There was a guy called Big John who walks the beaches each day selling excursions.

We did an island tour - volcanic crater, religeous temples, tea plantations and best of all, swam with dolphins. Was an excellent day out. Not much else to do.

Sea planes took off from the pier some days for paid-for fun flights.

We broke free on three ocassions and walked up the road to a superb Italian pizzaria - one you've tried the better in-resort restaurants you get bored of the food fast, and , its nice to get out.

If you are very much into "doing things" I'd not choose Mauritius, but for us it was a good covid escape with stunning sea.

Rent a car and go for a drive around the island. It’s beautiful and the roads in the hills are quite good.

You can visit the Chamarel Rhumerie, there’s some colourful sand thing that’s incredibly underwhelming but it’s an excuse to drive into the countryside, île aux Cerfs day trip on a catamaran is nice. Deep sea fishing trip? We had 9 nights on the island and we didn’t get bored. I managed to get moderately proficient at water skiing during that time too which was cool.

Whoa! I must go back now! (the turtles were nice, if not a little slow)
