Ibiza for couples
Discussion
Hi all,
I appreciate there's another Ibiza thread going but don't want to hijack...
My and my partner (late 20s/early 30s) are considering a trip to Ibiza next year, but having not been since grotty San Antonio messfests in our early 20s, we're not sure which to stay in.
We're looking for relaxed vibes, daytime beach clubs, good restaurants. We may do a night in a superclub but it's definitely not the priority, so location is flexible.
Any recommendations for areas to consider?
We could do AirBnb or hotels. Just no all inclusive package holidays.
Thank you!

Hey OP
We're actually going Friday as couples (3 sets of us)
We're stopping in San Antonio Bay which I'm hoping is a little bit quieter than staying right in San Antonio itself.
I've heard Ibiza Town is lovely and you're not too far away if you do fancy going somewhere a bit later.
Few things we have booked..Ocean Beach booked Friday, a private daytime boat thing for Sat day, Amnesia Sat night and then a meal at Mambos on the Sunday.

If clubbing isn't the priority then maybe consider Mallorca as well. They are very similar other than the large nightclubs. Mallorca might be cheaper for drinks too as they're not catering for the hipsters so much. As above though, Ibiza Town is a safe bet.
Also I'm impressed that you seem to have joined PH as a teenager!

Figueretas would be my choice - right on the edge of Ibiza Town, decent beach and lots of nice restaurants to choose from... Talamanca (on the other side of the town) is nice too, but a bit more sleepy, or head to the north of the island if you want a completely relaxed vibe (although I agree with the above that Mallorca's got a lot of the same without the 'Ibiza Tax'!

Look at James Villas. I did the same in my 30s with my wife at the time. Lovely. Secluded villa with pool (not far from San Ant), hire car. Dipped in and out of the nightlife as and when (one night in Pasha), visited the old town ,cafe del mar , etc etc. Didnt go into San Antonio more than once.
Helped that we invited two good friends after two days, so partied by the pool a bit too :-)

We stayed at One Suite Ibiza last year and it was so good. Picked us up from the airport in a nice car, straight into a drink on the rooftop bar/pool area.
Blue Marlin on the Sunday is a great vibe. Restaurant Olivia in Ibiza town was ace and a great place to watch the world go by.
Pikes is a must too. Also get down to Salinas beach as there is loads going on in the day, Jockey Club is a favourite.
Love Majorca too.

This does sound great, thanks. I think we prefer a hotel at this point but it's definitely an option for a second trip with friends.Helped that we invited two good friends after two days, so partied by the pool a bit too :-)

Anywhere in the North of the island is quite chilled out, or stay in Ibiza town for a nice atmosphere. Only problem with Ibiza town is the sunsets are on the other side of the island, but it sets early enough to get back across.
I've been doing a bit of research and did look at the north, but it seemed like you're somewhat a captive prisoner in your hotel unless you want to get loads of taxis. Or am I wrong?037 said:

I think we're narrowing to a few days in Figueritas or Talamanca (want to be near to Ibiza Town, but not right in it) followed by a nice hotel in the north for full relaxation. So getting the best of both worlds and seeing more of the island.
Any more tips welcome! Thanks everyone so far.

No where near San Antonio. Really nice hotel with the Ibiza vibe. Next door to a nicer/mature beach club that is perfect for couples.

If you're going to the North too and want best of both, I'd take Figueretas over Talamanca... It's a lot closer to the old Town (10-15 minute walk with the option of the scenic route through the castle, vs. half an hour+ having to walk all the way through the port)... Talamanca's a lot more chilled and a good compromise for one base, but you'll have that vibe up North!Any more tips welcome! Thanks everyone so far.
Me and the missus did san Antonio Bay about 7 years ago when we were 18/19, quiet enough and a few bars around for a drink or two. Used to go to urban lounge for pitchers of "fat frogs" you can walk along the front to es paradise where it more manic if you want but we never bothered with the clubs and strip
If you want/have to stay in the San Antonio area, the Amaretto hotel is good and more couple focussed. OKA looks good too.
Hard Rock in Playa den Bossa is ok too. Right on the beach.
I can also vouch for ME in Santa Eulalia. Nice hotel and pool. Nikki beach club next door. Good fun and not as mental as Obeach (love Obeach by the way 😆).
Santa Eulalia is on the quiet side but you’re not too far away from Ibiza town.
As for Mambos. Definitely recommend booking a table for sunset. It flips from a chilled restaurant to an awesome ‘street club’ once the sun goes down.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Weirdly when searching for "where to stay in Ibiza" Talamanca often comes up on blogs etc but Figueretas barely gets a mention! Not necessarily a bad thing, though - another for the shortlistnumber2 said:
Interesting thread!
Bit late for me this year.... we often spend time in Majorca (Palma and Es Trenc) but have decided to try Ibiza for a change (!). Booked the Ibiza Gran Hotel near the harbour/Ibiza town.
I'll report back, and keep an eye on this thread for other ideas!

Noted, thanks. I think we're past the fat frogs stage but would have definitely tucked in at 19!GTS_uk said:

Yep been to Cafe Mambo back in the day; really beautiful sunset - will make sure to book! When we went as a group we could just rock up so things must have got quite a lot busier in past few years?!Hard Rock in Playa den Bossa is ok too. Right on the beach.

North side of Ibiza is great and only a moped away from lots of nice places (and back into the old town if you need).
Portinatx I think we stayed at, not much else going on mind!
Portinatx also an option for the "chilled" portion - if you have a hotel reco, please let me know. Portinatx I think we stayed at, not much else going on mind!
Thanks all again for the tips!

hey OP, I got back Monday from our 3 nights away.
Ocean was full of pricks and the music was very samey and repetitive I have heard Blue Marlin is much nice and would maybe give that a go next time.
Staying in San Antonito bay was fine for us. Hotel didn't have any idiots in.
The boat thing we did was class, i'll try and get a link off Mrs BB. was 3 hours of bliss, just going round to other beaches and chilling out. Alcohol was on the boat but you could also bring your own. They also do a sunset one.
Mambos meal was nice but very big. You may be better off eating at Mint (next door and apart of Mambo's) or at Cafe Del Mar. Still hear the Mambo's music without the crowd.
I'd go again but i would stop Ibiza Town i think. and get a car to to Cala Bassa beach / club for the day.
Boat is a definite recommendation.
