Sadly it's my 40th year next year, so I'm floating the idea to our group of doing Ibiza. Also sadly we're at the stage of life where some of us have kids in tow, depending on how many of our group say yes, we're probably looking at just under 2 years old, and possibly one or two around 6 or 7.

I've only ever done Ibiza as a younger carefree group renting a villa, heading out to clubs etc whenever we want. This trip will obviously need to be different, so while we will probably want some element of the clubbing (more daytime clubbing than 6am stuff though) is Ibiza still a good place to be with kids involved?

Villa in the middle of nowhere? Hotel in the centre? Something else? Open to all ideas really.

I have been twice now, both during the summer season but the last time was mid September last year and noticeably quieter than peak season but still busy enough.

The flight will be rowdy and most hotels will have some guests that are on the island to party, the closer you get to San Antonio then the chances are your hotel will be full of everyone off their trolley.

Ibiza town and Bossa is supposed to be slightly lower key and an older crowd, I know a few who stay there and it sounds a safer bet.

15-timer here!...

Bossa has a slightly older crowd, yes, but it's VERY clubbing-focused and IMHO a little chavvy these days - certainly not a place I'd feel comfortable taking kids (I remember getting scowled at by families who'd clearly picked the wrong resort when staggering back from Space at 10am! biggrin)

Somewhere around Ibiza Town would be my pick (Figueretas is a fave of mine, but probably Talamanca with children - nice and close to town but a little quieter and lots of nice chilled beach bars)... Failing that, head north for somewhere more tranquil (but more removed from the nightlife!)

Just got back from 10 days there with ours who are 11 and 8; we stayed in Santa Eularia, the opposite side of the island to San Antonio. Would definitely recommend it as a family friendly resort; the town was clean, nice family vibe at night and the beaches weren’t too crowded. Went with my Dad so clubbing wasn’t on the agenda, but we did do a kids friendly ‘beach club’ day at Bam-Bu-Ku, just to see what it was like and get a bit of the Ibiza club experience.

Ate in some lovely restaurants (La Torre - Sunset spot, and Amante - great view) and really enjoyed the bits of the island we got to see. Will definitely go back at some point; it was bloody expensive though! We considered a Villa, but they were all huge money, so we ended up in a hotel, which was still very pricey compared to Mallorca etc.

I went to San Antonio in August 2018 with my Girlfriend and 8 year old daughter. It came up cheap and I didn't know that was the clubbing area.

It was fine, we enjoyed it. Sure, it was fairly busy, but not heaving like the busiest cities. The party goers went clubbing from mid evening until morning, which meant loads of the restraunts, bowing alleys and arcades weren't packed. There is provisions in the area for families also, music acts, puppet shows, cabaret etc. The clubbers were nice enough anyway.

My daughter is 13 now and have a 3 year old son. Wouldn't hesitate to take them all again.

We stayed here in June (with 2 teenage kids) very family orientated. Didn’t see any groups of lads/girls. Would highly recommend it as a base

Took the family to San Antonio for an evening to bore them
about where I used to go raving. Cafe del mar/mambos was pretty cool to watch the sunset. Although much more commercial than I remember it!

Would definitely take the kids again.

Been a few times, and twice for 2 long weekends when the boy was 6 and following year when he was 7
First year in Santa Eulalia, second year stayed at the Hard Rock. Was pretty chilled at the hard rock, band playing on the pool bar roof during the day. Everyone friendly and was a few other similar ages knocking about.
Went into ibiza town, again chilled, then also down to Salinas, jockey club beach bar and area.
Stay off the strips and Ibiza is still very laid back, although it does cost you a bit more these days.

I went 15 years ago or so with an ex and her kids, we stayed in a hotel in Santa Eularia and it was pretty decent all said. Close enough to San Antonio to enjoy it, but far enough away to miss the ravers. It has a half decent beach but equally it's also not miles away from Cala Llonga or if you go a little further south Platja d' en Bossa

Es Canar was a bit of a local hub it seemed when I was there too, but the only real time I spent there was picking up the hire car.

Portinatx and and Sant Miquel were very picturesque but a bit too far away from the lively bits of the island though. Probably not that good for kids unless you're sitting them on the beach and doing nothing else.

I’d 100% stay away from San Antonio last two times we’ve been someone in our group has been robbed although I imagine they are targeting drunk clubbers the whole vibe of the place is terrible now and totally changed from 10-15 years ago. I stayed in Ushuaia at the start of June which had a nice vibe but it was eyewatering how expensive it is (€23 for a packet of haribos).

I stayed in portinatx when I was a kid and enjoyed it even though it is pretty quiet compared to the rest of the island. Think it’s pretty far away to the clubbing scene though
