Vosges Mountains - Hidden Gem
Discussion
We're just wrapping up a week in the Vosges Mountains in France.
We've seen maybe 3 other brit cars, the area seems to be dominated by the Dutch with a smattering of Belgians, Germans and ofcourse French. Definitely no other brits on our campsite.
Costs are way lower than the Alps, we had a 3 course meal for 2 with 2 drinks each for under 40€ yesterday overlooking one of the local lakes. Maybe it's because we were in Switzerland in Spring and that wouldn't have bought a McDonald's but it seems exceptional value.
The roads are great and relatively quiet, many of them still had Tour De France graffiti on them. Only 5 hrs from Calais, few, if any, road tolls past Reims too. We haven't paid for parking once either.
While not Morzine the lifts are open for mountain biking, there's also loads of other sports on offer.
If you like active family holidays in the hills i highly recommend it, we'll definitely be back.
Only negative is we've copped a bad week weather wise, must be something to do with Global Boiling.

Absolutely agree lovely area. We discovered it touring France a few years ago and have been back since for a longer look . It was very green when we went both times albeit whilst you were away the weather continues to be awful in the UK . I have no doubt it's better in France right now . Talking to relatives near Toulouse they have had a great summer so far , appreciate that's a fair bit further south.
