Going there on Saturday for a (hot..) week and then 2 days in Rome.
Would anyone have any recommendations for restaurants in and around Montepulciano?

Not bothered about fine dining particularly (although a few wouldn’t go amiss) but rather the smaller local, off the beaten track eateries.
All party are carnivores…

Thanks

Did a tour around Tuscany a few years ago. Went to this place near Montepulciano
https://www.lafonte.toscana.it

Would also recommend visiting Montechiello and the views. We snacked at a place just to the right of the main entrance into the hilltop village. Nothing special but sat outside under the vines eating a caprese admiring the Val d'Orcia.

Great info thanks.

Would you happen to remember the name of the place over looking the Val d’Orcia?

Just got back. Everywhere we ate was decent. The mosquitos were best fed though.

You must go to Cafe Poliziano in the town (Montepulciano) - think an Italian Betty's.

Bloody wonderful and views to die for.

OP mentions Siena in the title but not in his first post. If in Siena, I can recommend Vivace Restaurant and definitely opt for the terrace.

In which case there’s an e-bike rental place called Urban Bikes in Montepulciano that will preload an itinerary of your choosing into sat nav and off you go round the vineyards. I don’t recall the full list that we went to but I do know the Canneto dessert wine was a hit, that we had lunch at Salcheto which was great and that the people at Boscarelli were charming.

Wonderful recommendation - the town and the eatery.
It’s a shame the photos don’t take in what the eye can see, it really is a breathtaking view.

Last day here today - it’s a beautiful place to be.
The farmhouse we’re staying in is fantastic - such a quiet location with a view from the pool you can only dream of.

All the towns we visited are stunning, food is great and in some of the places we were the only tourists there.

Mozzies are in abundance though..

On to Rome tomorrow for a few days.

Quite agree with photos - mine didn't come out as good as it looked in real life, especially at the golden hour. Pleased to hear that it's still a great place to eat.

We are half debating to do another Tuscany road trip again in September/October rather than a Greek island beach holiday (given the place we normally go to has been in the news all week).

Enjoy the rest of your hols.

Whilst we’ve regularly done Tenerife in the past, we rarely if ever go to beaches, so I’d actively choose to come back here I think.

We seem to have hit the right spot in Tuscany - apart from a morning of thunderstorms we’ve missed the ravages of the northern Italy storms and the fires and heatwave of the south.
