Mrs wants to go to York for a couple of days but when I ask her why she just says she just fancy’s it.
Is there anything there worthwhile to do? Will go there in the morning and leave next day so basically 2 days.
Will be staying a few miles outside of the centre so will be travelling in or to wherever is worthwhile going.

Sounds good except no doubt it’ll be me driving!
Also on that point any pointers on what it’s like for parking?

Before anyone states the obvious, I'll say don't bother with Betty's unless you're into Nusret. Different cheeks; same arse.

Railway Museum is pretty good, Walk round the wall and of course the Minster and the little staircase that takes you onto the roof.
York Shambles for toot and tat shops and the obligatory photo, then a nice boozer on the river.

Walk along the city walls and down by the river.

There's bootham row car park down the side of sainsburys that's good for parking up and walking into the city centre. Did it daily for the best part of a year working on the apartments "in" the car parksmile

Check out the national lottery days out promotion. £25 discount on quite a few things in York.

+1

York is usually tourist central, so you'll have plenty of company.

Some say the smart money goes to *much* smaller Ripon. No Americans, very few
tourists of any description (deep joy) and they have a pretty good Minster too.

The air is thick with Yorkshire accents from the locals. A pleasurable hour can
be had in the town square watching the world go by.
