I have a flight to Frankfurt next week to connect with a long haul with another airline.

Its years since I used London City - are the BA flights fairly reliable? I have just over three hours to clear customs and collect my checked bag and check in for the long haul flight (ie; 4.25 hours between BA flight landing time and long haul departure time). Starting to think I may have created a stress fest for myself (again).....

Have flown twice from there with BA in the past couple of months.

Check in and security, (fast track and regular), much faster than other SE airports and both BA flights took off on the dot.

Only downside is no BA lounge.

I've done loads of flights out of City, both BA and others and they are as reliable as any 'full service' airline flight and fog/high winds are the only things that tend to cause specific issues at City (and neither should be an issue at this time of year).

Thank you for the responses - feel a bit better now. The alternative was traveling 24 hours before the long haul flight which is really a waste of a day, plus hotel.

All went on rails in the end. Apart from Frankfurt airport failing to get my checked bag on to the flight. It arrived next day and was delivered to the hotel so no big drama.

Transfers at Frankfurt. Something I long ago learnt to loathe and consigned to my “do not do this” pile. I hate that airport.

Admittedly it’s been 6 years since I’ve transferred at Frankfurt, but I found it better than Heathrow, which transferring from T5 - T4 after 20:00 is a joke.

I had to go through passport control to collect my luggage (telling them I’m staying for three hours) and then join a long line to exit Germany with a stamp and fly out on my long haul flight.

Wasn’t particular pleasant or unpleasant but worth saving £300 on the cost of flying direct from LHR.
