European Breakdown Cover - Recommendations?
Discussion
I had to claim once, in Italy, with RAC euro cover and the service was superb. Only real hitch is you get given a European English speaking contact who then acts as the interface between you and the local country's operatives/garages, which adds a day at least to every single communication. Took over a week to get an alternator replaced on a Mazda Bongo, but in that time they gave us a car, and we then exchanged it for hotel accom instead (maybe the other way round!).
Highly recommended from a claimant's perspective.

Qualified recommendation from me. AA Cover through Nationwide. The stator on my bike packed up in Italy in August.
They were somewhat helpful in letting me know what my options were and did eventually pay most of the costs, but very little help in arranging anything like hotels, replacement transport or dealing with the garage who were uncommunicative and in the end monstrously expensive!
With hindsight I probably should have pushed harder to get the bike shipped home which was technically covered but very much a last resort for the insurance company as it was cheaper for them to let me get fleeced!
It worked out alright as I got a return trip to collect it later on which was like a second holiday, although I was still out of pocket.
