So with the recent news that easyJet are cancelling/ rebooking onto alternative flights, where does one stand IF the flight is cancelled and we have already paid for airport hotel and car parking?, trying to contact easyJet is virtual impossible.

As above, hotel and parking are nothing to do with easyjet sadly and I expect you'd have had to stipulate these items as extras on your policy.

It's a bugger, however I think you've lost these if you cancel, but check insurance (and remember you might have travel on other things like bank or credit cards etc as a freebie)

We went to Sicily with easyJet in June. They cancelled our return flight (before we'd left the UK) and offered an alternate flight either earlier the same day, or the next day. They also offered a refund. Seemed reasonable to me but did cut out holiday half a day short.

I think easyJet have said they are only cancelling flights where an alternate is available on the same day?

They may well be - but my early afternoon flight was canx and replaced with one that takes off at 06:20. Ok - but I am still at work then - hence my going for the later flight. Given we are taking the train to LGW, even if I wasnt, that just wouldnt fly even if we got the earliest possible train. Luckily I hadnt bought the train tickets yet.

Also luckily, the accomodation were ok with just shunting the holiday a day later and Easyjet were actually ok about rebooking both legs to the next day(s). So for us it did kind of work out - but it was still a nause/faff. I get that these things happen - but a lot of passengers wll have booked a long way in advance....

The way I interpreted the news article I read (BBC News) was that Easyjet have already cancelled the impacted flights and re-booked most people. Therefore, if you haven't been contacted (or your flights are still showing the same on the Easyjet app) then you haven't been impacted by these cancellations.

However, my interpretation may not be correct.

Our flight to Faro - the 19:20 from Bristol on 14/7/23 - was cancelled after a 4hr delay and after we'd gone through the gate.

The pilot came up to tell us what the issue was and just said 'I'd fly you there right now, but Faro have said they won't take us now, and that's all I have to say on the matter'.

Needless to say, that didn't go down well with all the drunk Stags and Hens on the flight!

(Wish the fact there'd be a load of drunkards travelling on a Friday night had occurred to us when booking!)

Because of the heckling, the lady who'd been pleasant on the gate minutes before ended up just saying over the tannoy 'I was going to help, but you can all just rebook on the app yourselves now'.

Great advice, if you'd booked with Easyjet. We'd booked a package through Tui. In fact, we hadn't realised until a few weeks before departure that it wasn't Tui flying us. So these Easyjet flights weren't linked to my login.

In Easyjet's defence, their comms by email were better than Tui's. Alas, after a few phone conversations with Tui on Saturday, we had to concede defeat and take a refund.

My favourite line was when one Tui lady said our accomodation might not be available any more, 'because you didn't turn up last night'. Well, it wasn't for lack of trying, was it?!

Up until that point I'd been pushing to drive up to Manchester to catch Tui's Sunday flight over there. It hadn't occurred to me that Tui wouldn't have been in touch with the hotel to have them hold our rooms as our flight had been cancelled.

All refunds - except for Holiday Extras in respect of the Silver parking - now received. But I managed to pick up a cold whilst cooped up inside the airport. Boo!

Holiday Extras' no-fly cover has a 48hr claim window, it turns out. So I stitched myself up by contacting them on Monday morning rather than Sunday afternoon. Doh! I could claim it back, after a £50 excess, from my travel insurer. But they've kindly moved our policy to the new travel dates which is far more valuable.

Wish us luck when we attempt to have a holiday again next month!

That's not correct

We had return flights to Krakow booked. They cancelled our return and moved us to the one the day before.

Screwed up our plans and we have cancelled the 4 night trip now. Looking at alternative destinations as Krakow had basically no other options to get there by flight at the times we wanted
