Isle of Mull, again
Discussion
Thanks for the help about Mull hotels a few weeks ago. Due to time constraints we’re having to rethink this.
If we stay on the mainland in/near Oban and get an early ferry there and a late one back presumably we’ll have enough time in the day for a drive round and nice lunch in Tobermory? We won’t be bothered about too much walking as I’m struggling with an arthritic knee anyway. Thoughts...and any ‘must see’ places please?

It'll take longer than you think to drive round Mull, as the majority is single track roads and traffic will be fairly busy being the Summer school holidays - Tobermory will be 2 hours out of your day just getting there and back from Craignure ferry terminal. Calgary Bay up in the northwest is nice, although the Arts Centre and art trails aren't so great if you're not planning on walking much.
Duart Castle is not far from the ferry terminal, pretty popular and good views for photos of the ferries coming in, and Tobermory has the distillery which you can do a tour in. If you have decent binoculars keep your eyes peeled for Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles round the Island!
Going south west to Fionnphort and getting the wee ferry across to Iona is personally what I'd do instead of Tobermory - Iona has a lovely Abbey and cafes, craft shops, etc. Quite a few nice bays on the drive out there as well, like Uisken. Don't know if you'd be able to do Iona and Tobermory in one day, as you're going to opposite ends of the island, but the drive would cover some decent scenery!
