Best way into Italy from Chamonix to avoid Mobt Blanc Tunnel

Hi All,

We've got a bit of a driving holiday planned this summer. Spending a couple of nights in Chamonix, then off into Italy to Alba/Barolo region for next stop.

Easiest potentially, would be straight through the Mont Blanc Tunnel, but P Junior reckons we could find the St Bernard Pass made famous in the Italian Job.

Is this a practical route to take from Chamonix, or is there another more practical but spectacular mountain route from there? Tha ks all!

You've got to go either east or west of Mont Blanc. Or under it. St Bernard is the other obvious route to Italy, otherwise it's a long detour via other passes.
