Jordan (Amman) 7 days
Discussion
HI all
Looking at booking my parents to visit Jordan flying into Amman in late November. Does anyone have any tips on where abouts to stay in Amman, and any other things close by to see or perhaps visit for a night or two? They will be flying from Dubai to Amman then back to London/Birmingham/Manchester/wherever
Looking at 7 nights but could extend potentially

time to get the map out and have a good look me thinks. The dead sea is about 2.5 hrs away and has nice resort hotels. Petra a bit further. Jerash is a decent day out. What age are they. How active? It also depends on how much travelling they are prepared to do.
If they want to lounge around by the pool, then some of the resorts by the Dead Sea are amazing.
I can recommend the Kempinski hotel in Ishtar.
My wife and I are in our late sixties and quite fit. We spent seven days touring Jordan last March.
Highlights for us were, Wadi Rum, Jerash, the Dead Sea and of course, Petra

I would say reasonably fit, but not looking to do 15km+ walks on a daily basis. They could do that as a one off. However, they enjoy more looking at stuff rather than lounging around for too long, we will get all that stuff done in DubaiIf they want to lounge around by the pool, then some of the resorts by the Dead Sea are amazing.

They are 60 and 58 Y/O/
OK, looking to get them there on the night of the 12th November, and fly to Dubai from Amman on 21st November, so there are a fair few days there
What would you all recommend to book? Operated tours through the web, or just choose a couple of hotel locations before getting there and organise transport themselves?

My personal opinion only. I would arrange a tour through a travel company, to include accommodation. What would you all recommend to book? Operated tours through the web, or just choose a couple of hotel locations before getting there and organise transport themselves?
Two or three nights in Amman is plenty. There is the hilltop citadel and roman amphitheatre. Also the markets and Rainbow Street. That’s about it in Amman itself.
There are a few places where you can make easy day trips from the city. Jerash (like Pompeii), Umm Qais (overlooking the Sea of Galilee), Ajloun Castle, Madaba (city of mosaics), Mount Nebo.
Other places which are a must see. Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea.
Don’t forget you will need a visa for Jordan.

Have a chat with Fleewinter, they will arrange an itinerary with all hotels etc, we’ve used them a few times and they’re great. Two or three nights in Amman is plenty. There is the hilltop citadel and roman amphitheatre. Also the markets and Rainbow Street. That’s about it in Amman itself.
