So now covid has well and truly passed I’ve been traveling a fair bit with work again (which in general I love).

Being a heavily M&A based business means I’m usually out to somewhere different fairly frequently and whilst my latest trips are hardly exotic, I’ve ticked off a few personal things in the process.

3 weeks ago I took a trip to London, Toronto and Miami, before a long trek home to Dubai.

Last week, I was back to the US, this time to Orange County for a week stint.

Out of all the places, Toronto was the one I was looking forward to the most, and as such, I spent most (personal) time out there. Unfortunately, I left feeling like it was a bit dull. Clearly I wasn’t seeing it in a perfect light as it was raining every day and traffic seemed constantly horrendous. Add to that the near permanent smell of weed everywhere (including when driving on highways), it didn’t really do it for me. Personal highlight of this trip was the Niagara Falls.

On this trip I purposely took the option to spend the weekend in Toronto rather than Miami, but I left wishing I’d done the opposite. I had little expectations with Miami, but absolutely loved the place. Nice weather, vibrant culture, cool Cuban bars and eateries, nice beaches etc. Defo a place I’d like to revisit.

Few snaps. I didn’t take any of London as I’m there monthly to visit HQ. That said, been a northerner, I love London.

Fast forward a few weeks and onto OC.

Didn’t really get much personal time this time around but tried to make the most of it. My business was focused in Anaheim, which seemed a cool place. Long days put an end to exploring on a evening (apart from a night at Laguna Beach) but I did take a day off before a long trip back to DXB.

I made the most of it with a pacific coast highway road trip. I passed by various beaches (Huntington Beach, Long Beach, Redondo Beach, Venice Beach, Malibu and over the mountains (a personal fav), before a stop to see the Hollywood sign, onto Downtown LA, a Tesla charging station.

Ok so not a mega road trip, but I was out a good 12hrs and the car only needed a charge towards the end to ensure it had enough for handing back to Hertz…..otherwise it would have made it.

Broadly my route.

Few random snaps.

Not sure what’s up next, but likely to be Central and South America.

Does anyone else get to mix some personal adventures whilst traveling with work?

From Mexican Hat onwards was a holiday extension to the real work trip in Durango. Before current "job" I travelled and only ever saw Airport,Taxi, Hotel, Office - so it's nice to do more interesting things around work now.

We actually work with Heritage railways in the UK so get some "Money Can't Buy" trips on their railways.
