Am looking to PH'ers to crowdsource some ideas of day's out which are not in London.

Every couple of months, to decompress, I take a day off from work mid-week and do something. I've come to the point of having "done" London and am looking to curate a list of things to do beyond our Capital.

Love museums and art galleries, have lost hours in places like the Briitish Museum and Tate (Modern & Britain). I'm not a foodie, so not looking for special places to eat. I'm comfortable with a McD's or pizza. I just want to visit and see interesting things

I live just outside Slough and don't mind driving upto a couple of hours but I'm struggling to find places to go. Over the past couple of years, I've done Oxford city centre and the various university museums and sights, Brighton, Bath and Leicester. My son now lives in Bristol so have mapped out a few things to do over various weekends in the summer. Have done an much longer day trips out to the Isle of Wight and New Forest (including Beauliu)

These day's out will be solo, so not looking for family friendly. So over to you all for your assistance.

If you've done Bath, then Lacock Abbey might be up your street. The cloisters and the Cauldron both featured in Harry Potter plus the village itself is very cool (with it's insistence on no TV aerials)

Cambridge, a punt along the River Cam in nice weather, sublime.

Duxford air museum

Sammy Miller's motorcycle museum in the New forest.

Depends what you are in to really.

Tank museum in Dorsey is very good with monkey world round the corner.

As above Portsmouth dockyard is good and you can buy a pass to visit all the museums.

There’s also the royal armouries nearby in an old fort.

Brooklands is good and next door is Mercedes Benz world.

If Bovington is in range then there's also Tyneham and Clouds Hill close by, but make sure Tyneham is open as it's within the ranges.
