I'm struggling to find any motivation to book at holiday, Mrs Freak is pestering me as she has holidays coming out of her ears. She's got a week off I think 2nd or 3rd week in September and wants us to get something booked.

I'm not a beach guy, but will happily sit on a lounger for a few hours before needing something to do apart from bake in the sun. I like to have stuff to do, eat out, places to see etc.

She has mentioned Montenegro as neither of us have been, watched a few YT videos and it didn't really excite me, Greece is another, I've not been but she mentioned it. I'm not saying I wouldn't go to either of these but the videos didn't sell it to me.

Any suggestions on places, hotels, stuff to do etc given the time of year also?

Like you I don't like lying about on hol

One of the best holidays I've had was Cinque Terre - I could spend the day walking in the hills and trails and then rendevous with Mrs Loto for lunch at one of the villages - she could get the train there after swimming in one of the coves or lounging which she enjoys.

It suited us both really well, so much we went twice on one year. September could be a good choice as it ought to be less busy then but the weather should still be nice.

Been there, done that previously.

Good shout though.

Western Algarve - Lagos or similar, an hours drive from Faro. Loads of restaurants, marina, old town history, castle at Silves, mountain villages eg Monchique, dolphin boat trip, Ponta da Piedade or Benagil cave boat trips, cliff top walks and a trip to the south westernmost point of Europe.
Oh, and loads of beaches.
Weather will be good but not crazy hot and all the kids will be back at school - September is my favourite month there.

I was very pleasantly surprised by Mallorca.... in fact I was largely persuaded by the PH Collective when I asked about the island.

I took 3 holidays there over a few years. Proper airport, lovely people and towns to suit every taste.

I’d thoroughly recommend Malta, if you’ve not been before. Great balance of beach, historical sites and interesting towns, varied coastline, good food and an excellent climate.

I went in early October last year and found it ticked many boxes.

Athens is interesting, also Budapest. Cheap flights to New York for September currently.

How about Sicily or Sardinia?

Small update, currently thinking Italy (again), the dates we have coincides with the San Marino MotoGP round (lucky for me), so the OH is up for that then the the current plan is to travel down to Sicily for a few days.

Just need to figure flights, places to visit, car hire etc
