Looking at buying some new, relatively lightweight, decent quality suitcases.

Eastpak look set answer the call. Browsed JL and they seem pretty good.

Does anyone have a better idea please?

Also, does anyone know where they are made. Don't want Chinese stuff so happy to pay more and support European or US based manufacturing.

Thanks

Can't speak for the one you have linked but I am a fan of their fabric stuff.

Just checked the label of my smaller one, it was made in Bangladesh

I've got a couple of in this style but in different sizes:

Lasted really well over a number of years, around 10 so far, and don't show much sign of age. Another thing I like is the medium size fits well into the large size so good for easy storage back home!

5.5 KG empty weight isn't light.

That is 1/4 of the average airline baggage allowance.

I have a 110L Lojel case that weighs the same and I only bought that for one trip, moving to the UK and I wanted one of the most secure cases I could get. I had a luggage limit of 40 KG on that trip though.

For most travel I use an 80L backpack that has an empty weight of less than 1.5 KG. If you want lightweight (and portability) eschew the suitcase entirely.

P.S. as mentioned above, check out Lojel.

Bugger.

One of the thing is like about the Lojel is that it stands out amongst the sea of identical black and grey cases on the carousel. You could spot it a mile away..

Strange how threads appear when you want them:

I was looking at these last night based on a search of old threads: https://www.luggagesuperstore.co.uk/american-touri...

Seem lightweight too......

edit: apols for the massive lifesize pic!!

I've got that American tourister... The 85 litre version.

Very happy with it, I can do a week no probs with it.

Light, chuck able about and feels strong.

I’m an eastpack fan.

I have the small wheely case and a backpack and they are both pretty robust and stay tidy looking.

There’s not many things in my life that I’d just buy again without researching but these both fall into that category.
